THEME: GIANT ROC
Edition: ALPHA/BETA
Rarity: COMMON
Element: FIRE
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Flying/Reach/Trample at level 6

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 17

Earthquake: Monsters without flight ability will be hit with 2 melee damage after every round ends.

Lineup & Strategy

Summoner: Tarsa

We're using this card as our Summoner to get access to Giant Roc in the Fire Splinter. The +1 Melee damage it adds to our team will also increase our attack power in this battle.

=1st Position=
Tank: Living Lava

Our usual tank monster in a Fire Splinter lineup. Its Shield ability reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks. It also has a high Melee attack of 3 that can definitely eliminate the enemy tank monster in a few hits.

=2nd Position=
Giant Roc

We're placing our featured card in the 2nd position so that it can attack using its Reach ability. Its Flying ability will definitely give us a huge advantage since it will not take damage from the Earthquake battle ruleset.

=3rd Position=
Creeping Ooze

At the last position in our lineup is Creeping Ooze. Its Slow ability gives our team a high chance of being the first one to attack at the beginning of each round. We're also placing it in the last position so that it can protect Giant Roc from Sneak attacks just in case our opponent uses it.

Our opponent used Wizard of Eastwood as Summoner removing 2 armor from our team.

Round 1 was quite a steady fight since no monster died this turn. However, the enemy Unicorn Mustang succesfully dodged several attacks from our team. We'll have a hard time winning if these misses will keep on going.

Creeping Ooze died on Round 2 due to Earthquake damage. Our tank is also not looking so good with 4 health remaining while the enemy team still has higher health than our team.

We lost our tank after it received Earthquake damage and Unicorn Mustang attacked it on Round 3.

The enemy Unicorn Mustang died of Earthquake damage on Round 4. Giant Roc was able to land a critical hit to the remaining enemy monster. Although it had the Torns ability, it was not enough to eliminate Giant Roc which paved our way to victory in this battle.

Conclusion

It was quite a close fight. Both enemy monsters had good stats specially Unicorn Mustang that was able to evade several attacks. Good thing Giant Roc had the Flying ability that prevented damage from the Earthquake battle ruleset.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Our strategy of using Giant Roc's Flying ability worked perfectly in this battle. It was a huge advantage that swooped our way to victory.

Do you like the GIANT ROC? Why or why not?

I like using Giant Roc mostly in matches that has the Earthquake battle ruleset because of its Flying ability. Its Reach ability is also useful since it can do Melee damage on the 2nd position.

Thank you for taking time on reading this post. I hope you liked the turn of events that occured in this battle. Happy holidays!!!

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
