Splinterlands Battle Challenge - MYCELIC MORPHOID

Hello fellow Splinterlands fans! We have another Battle Challenge for this week. Let's see how we can utilize our featured card of the week to our advantage and win this battle.

Challenge Rules

THEME: MYCELIC MORPHOID

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: EARTH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities:Thorns

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 15

Standard: No modification to the standard gameplay rules and mechanics.

Lineup Strategy

Summoner:
Obsidian

This Summoner will give our team +1 Magic attack. It will also give us access to our featured card from the Earth Splinter.

Tank:
Hill Giant

Since this is a Low Mana battle, we'll need to carefully spend our mana on low cost but useful monsters. 3 Mana for a tank monster with 6 Health is a fair trade for its lack of power.

Regal Peryton

Our backup tank uses Magic attack that ignores armor and can attack from any position on the battlefield. Its Flying ability gives it an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from monsters who do not have the Flying ability.

Khmer Princess

We have another Magic attack monster in our lineup. Its attack will also be boosted by our chosen Summoner.

Mycelic Morphoid

At the last position in our lineup is our featured card of the week. We're placing it on this position to protect our team from Sneak attacks.

Our opponent decided to use a Fire Splinter lineup with a Summoner boosting their Attack and Health by 1.

Our tank monster Hill Giant was able to eliminate the enemy monster on the 1st position on Round 1. We also lost one of our Magic attack monsters in this round because of the enemy Serpentine Spy's Opportunity ability that targets low health monsters.

We lost our tank monster on Round 2 since its already low on health. Regal Peryton will now takeover as our team's tank. Hopefully its Flying ability will allow it to dodge attacks long enough for it to eliminate the remaining enemy monsters.

Regal Peryton eliminated an enemy monster using its Magic attack on Round 3. Unfortunately, we also lost our featured card in this round. The next round is going to be a bit of a pickle since we only have 1 monster left in our team vs 3 monsters on our opponent's side of the battlefield.

Regal Peryton eliminated another enemy monster on Round 4. It was also able to evade some attacks keeping its health intact at the end of this round.

Regal Peryton eliminated another enemy monster using Magic attack. Things are now looking good for our team since the remaining enemy monster uses Ranged attack that no longer works when its on the 1st position.

It took 2 more rounds before Regal Peryton was able to eliminate the remaining enemy monster and seal the deal with our win in Round 7.

Conclusion

Our opponent had the upper hand in the first few rounds of this battle. The enemy Serpentine Spy was quite troublesome since it easily wiped out our team using its Opportunity ability that can attack low health monster on any position. Good thing Regal Peryton stepped up and eliminated the remaining enemy monsters all by itself.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

We made the right decision in using Regal Peryton as our backup tank. Its Flying ability along with its high Speed of 5 caused some our enemy monsters' attack to miss. Using Magic attack also helped a lot since it can easily eliminate enemy monsters even if they still have some armor.

Do you like MYCELIC MORPHOID? Why or why not?

I often use Mycelic Morphoid when I need a 1 mana monster that can be placed either at the front or back of the lineup to protect against frontal or sneak attacks.

I hope you enjoyed watching our featured battle today. Till next time fellow Splinterlands fans. Have a great day!!!

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
