Meet the Team

Summoner: Mylor Crowling

This is the summoner that I usually use on a Forest Splinter lineup. The Thorns buff that he applies to all friendly monsters returns damage back to the attacker when hit with a Melee attack would be a big advantage in this battle. Since this is a high mana battle with a poison condition, the opponent will probably be using monsters with high health.

Tank: Centauri Mage

We'll be using our featured card of the week as a Tank in this lineup because of its high health of 9. Its Return Fire ability that returns reduced damage back to their attacker when hit with a Ranged attack is perfect on a tank monster. There will more likely be at least 2 Ranged attack monsters in a high mana battle.

Pelacor Mercenary

Our back up tank in this lineup. Its high health of 8 and 1 armor can definitely take lots of hits and return damage back to Melee attackers with the Thorns ability that Crowling buffs our team with. Its Flying ability gives an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.

Unicorn Mustang

This also our backup tank. Its huge chunk of 10 health can certainly take a lot of damage thats also reduced if its Magic damage because of its Void ability. It can surely return a lot of Melee damage from the Thorns ability given by Crowling. It can also deal decent Melee attack damage of 3.

Sand Worm

This card has a huge melee attack power of 5 and a decent health of 5. Its Sneak ability allows it to strike the last monster on the enemy team which is great because it will probably be one of our opponent's damage dealers on the last position.

Venari Seedsmith

This card is one of our damage dealers. It has a decent attack of 2 and its Scavenger ability that gains 1 max health each time any monster dies is a perfect setup in a long battle. It will probably take several rounds before someone can win this battle since its a high mana monster lineup. By the time all our frontline monsters are gone, this card must have already accumulated a huge amount of health from the monsters that died.

Mantoid

The last card in our lineup is Mantoid. Its Snipe ability is perfect for killing Ranged or Magic attack enemy monsters that are the usual damage dealers in this kind of matchup.

Crowling's Thorns ability is useless in this battle since our opponent only used one Melee attack monster and five Ranged attack monster. Sand Worm was able to kill the enemy monster placed on the last backline position on Round 1. Unfortunately, we also lost Venari Seedsmith on this round since our opponent had 2 Ranged enemy monsters with the Snipe ability.

We lost our featured card Centauri Mage in Round 2 due to poison damage. However, it was still good because we were able to see its Return Fire ability in action since our opponent used several Ranged attack monsters. Mantoid was also able to kill an enemy Ranged attack monster, thanks to its Snipe ability.

Two of our opponent's monsters died due to poison damage. This left a single Ranged attack monster on his side of the battlefield. We were able to claim victory on the next attack, thanks to Pelacor Mercenary who sealed the deal.

The Aftermath

Although the Thorns ability that Crowling added to our monsters became insignificant in this battle, our featured card Centauri Mage's Return Fire had a huge advantage since our opponent used five Ranged attack monsters. It was able to reduce their health a bit before going down, which helped a lot in the 2nd and 3rd Rounds where they died of Poison damage. Using monsters with high health was also the key in winning this battle. Not only can they absorb a lot of damage, they can also last longer in a Poison battle condition. This paved our way to victory in just three Rounds.

Centauri Mage was a great tank in a Forest Splinter lineup not only because of its high health of 9 but also because of its Return Fire ability. Its specially useful when using Crowling as a summoner because when other players see that you're mostly using him as a summoner, they will more likely be using a lot of Ranged attack monsters to render the Thorns ability that he buffs friendly monsters useless. I think I'm gonna use Centauri Mage more now because of this.

Two more days to go before this season's Ranked battle ends. How's your rank been doing so far? Till the next battle challenge everyone. Have fun and stay safe.

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
