A Full Forward Attack Versus A Spread Attack

Hello everyone, EOS is ended how many chests have you got? very interesting to play the battle in this season, many veterans still learning how to use the Rebellion. With the rotation of the card, the Untamed edition can't be used anymore in this Modern Format making the battle for us Splinterlands scholars easier, at least for the last season, but maybe will become harder after many players master how to use the Rebellion card. Whatever happens the Rebellion Patch for sure makes this game more interesting than before. Today I will
blog again about Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is about the Rise of the Commons ruleset.

I play in the modern format, Champion League, using my scholar account from Balthazar.

Ruleset

  • Even Stevens, only monsters with even mana cost can be used in this battle.
  • Rise of the Commons, only monster with rare and common rarity can be used in this battle.
  • Holy Protection ruleset, all monster have Divine Shield ability.
    • Divine Shield ability, for the first attack the monsters will ignore the damage.
  • mana cap.
  • can use Fire, Water, Life, and Death element.

My Lineup and strategy

Frankly, I don't memorize all the monsters with rare or common rarity in Splinterlands, usually, I will look at the other rulesets in this battle, and decide based on the other rulesets what elements are usually suitable for use in that ruleset, I will then look at what monsters only those available in the summoner with the elements I want to use. If it turns out that the monster we want is not available I will choose the 2nd best element and repeat the process.
In this battle, we decide the elements and monsters we use based on:

  • Even Stevens, in this ruleset only a few dangerous monsters can attack the monster behind (Sneak ability (attacks the monster in the last position) or Opportunity ability (attacks the monster with the smallest HP)).
  • Holy Protection, in this ruleset we should focus on attacking 1 monster because our first attack on the enemy monsters does not give damage.

Therefore we decided to focus on attacking the monsters in the first position, using the Death element and 2 melee attackers.

This is my lineup :

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
Thaddius Brood, Summoner. Can decrease enemy monster magic damage and HP by -1This summoner is great against magic attacks. Will be useful in case the enemy brings a magic monster.
Curse Windeku, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Has the ability Thorn, Heal, and Slow. This is our 2nd tanker for the ruleset Super Sneak because can restore HP every round because of the ability Heal and every time the melee monster hits this monster will get damaged by -2 HP cause of the Thorns ability. If the attacker monster has Shield ability only gets damage -1 HP. Slow is another good support ability, it will decrease all enemy monsters' speed by -1 giving our monster an increased chance to attack first and kill the enemy monster.
Shadow Snitch 2nd position, attacker, and 2nd tanker. Has the ability Reach, Affliction, and Dodge. This melee monster can attack from the 2nd position because has the ability Reach. We use this monster because has the ability of Affliction, in case the enemy brings a monster who can heal like Baakjira from the water element we can stop that by inflicting Affliction status on the enemy monster (each attack has the chance of 50% to inflict Affliction status). Dodge ability increase the chance to dodge melee and ranged attack by 25%), this will be useful as 2nd tanker. With the Windeku these 2 monsters will be our main attackers.
Ravenhood Warden, 3rd position, attacker, and support. Has the ability Protect, and Inspire. The Protect ability which will add +2 armor to all friendly monsters. The Inspire ability adds +1 melee damage I used this monster especially to buff our monster in the 1st and 2nd position.
Venari Bonesmith, 4th position, attacker. Has the ability Life Leech, Poison, and Dispel.Use this monster because of the Poison ability (if the Poison status is inflicted on the enemy it will decrease their HP by -2 every round**. Life Leech's ability will make this monster's HP increase every time the attack hits the enemy. Dispel is a good support ability because can remove all positive statuses from the enemy monster like Swiftness, Bloodlust, Inspire, Etc. Put it here to protect from the front and back attack, I just guess that higher chance the enemy will attack from the front only so I put it almost at the last position.
Supply runner 5th position, Attacker. Has the ability Swiftness and Strengthen.Use this monster especially because it has a Swiftness ability to increase the speed of all ally monsters by +1. With high speed, we have a higher chance to attack first, evade the enemy attack, and kill the enemy before they can attack. Strengthen ability will increase all HP monsters by 1, it will make our monsters more hard to kill.

The Battle

You can see that from the enemy formation not focus on attacking our monster but bring Deeplurker who will attack the monster with the lowest HP because have have the Opportunity ability.

  • Round 1 :
After buffing and debuffing, our two monsters Supply Runner and Venari Bonesmith attack first because have the highest speed, the Bonesmith gives the Poison effect to the Diemonshark. Because the Bonesmith magic attack decreases the enemy HP of Diemonshark it activated the Enrage ability increasing the speed and damage. The enemy Deeplurker attacked our Ravenhood Warden but did not give any damage because of the Holy Protection ruleset, while all our monsters attacked the enemy Diemonshark.
The enemy brings River Nymph so can delete all negative effect from the enemy Diemonshark (Slow, Poison, and Affliction), only left with Enrage effect the Diemonshark at the end of the round become stronger although the armor is already destroyed left with 7 HP. Our Windeku attack can evaded by Diemonshark due to high speed after Enrage is activated. Our Tanker Windeku after receiving many attacks can heal so it restores the HP to 11.

  • Round 2 :
The enemy Diemonshark with the highest speed because of the Enrage ability attacked our** Windeku** got Thorns damage, was attacked by our Supply Runner, and the Bonesmith died.
Our Windeku after receiving high damage from Diemonshark only left with 5 hp and was killed by the enemy Medhampir.
Our Shadow Snitch upon receiving the attack from Deeplurker got a Poison effect.

  • Round 3 :
Our condition does not look so good because of the Poison effect it decreases our Shadow Snitch Hp with only 5 left at the start of the round. Luckily after receiving an attack from the enemy Xenith Archer, left with 3 HP it can evade the enemy Merdhampir attack if not for sure this monster will die. With the enemy, Deeplurker's next attack this 2nd tanker Shadow Snitch finally dies and our Ravenhood Warden moves to the first position this monster can't attack anymore in this position.

  • Round 4 :
Xenith archer attacked first and destroyed our Ravenhood armor, then the enemy monster Merdhampir decreased the HP, and River Nymph killed our Ravenhood Warden. 2 our monster against 3 the enemy monster.

  • Round 5 :
Both our monsters attack first in this round, decreasing the enemy River Nymph by 1, Bonesmith gives a Poison effect to the River Nymph but is useless because River Nymph can delete it with the Cleanse ability. Bonemsith left with 6 HP and River Nymph with 1 HP.

  • Round 6 :
Our Supply Runner killed the enemy River Nymph, with the death of River Nymph all of the enemy speed decreased by -1. The enemy Xenith Armor moved to the first position attacked by our Bonesmith and got Poison effect. Our Bonesmith is only left with 1 HP.

  • Round 7 :
Although have the same speed as Merdhampir our Bonesmith monster with magic damage attacks first so we can kill the Xenith Archer before being attacked by the enemy Merdhampir because of the mechanics of gameplay in the Splinterlands:

    you can read more here
According to the mechanics, the magic attack monster will attack first if it has the same speed.
With the death of Xenith Archer the Merdhampir moves to the first position and can't attack anymore.

  • Round 10-11 :
We skip to round 10 nothing is interested in this battle anymore, the enemy can't fight back, because of Merdhampir Life Leech's ability this monster has high HP, so it is hard to kill. At round 11 this monster finally dies because of the Poison effect and the victory becomes ours.

Did your Strategy Work?

A strategy that works well:
our summoner Thaddius Brood decreased the enemy River Nymph magic attack, while our Tanker Windeku damaged the Diemonshark with the Thorns, The Protect ability from Ravenhood Warden, and the Heal from Windeku helped Windeku live longer. Focus fire attacking the enemy monster in the first position makes the enemy monster tanker Diemonshark die first before our tanker. We use Double tanker Windeku and Shadow Snitch with Reach ability help to protect our main attacker behind. The Slow ability from the Windeku and Swiftness from Supply Runner make our monster speed on par with the enemy although the enemy brings Kelya Frendul summoner who can increase speed.

A strategy that doesn't work or does not have any effect :

  • Inspire by our Ravenhood Warden disable by the enemy Deeplurker
Demoralize ability who can decrease enemy melee damage by -1.
  • Venari Bonesmith Poison ability becomes useless because the enemy brings the River Nymph who have Cleanse ability and can remove the Poison /all negative effect of monster in the first position, it useless at least until the River Nymph dies.
