Decrease The Enemy Armor, Use Reflection Shield and Poison Ability In The Explosive Weaponry Ruleset

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope all have a great weekend. Today I will make a post again about the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is Explosive Weaponry ruleset.

I play in the Modern Format Diamond League, using my scholar account from Balthazar I only use cheap cards like Chaos, Reward, and some Neutral.

Ruleset

  • Earthquake, starting from round 2 each monster who not have Flying ability will take 2 melee damage at the end of each round.

  • Broken Arrow, monsters with range attack can't be used in this battle.

  • Explosive Weaponry, all monster have blast ability.

    • Blast ability, does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
  • mana cap.

  • can use elements Water, Earth, Death, and Dragon.

My Lineup and strategy

In this battle we will use the Water element because the summoner can provide additional armor to all our units, with armor we can be immune to attacks from Earthquake and if the monster attacks is ranged and melee then the damage will hit the armor first before reducing the monster's HP (including the effects of Explosive Weaponry).

Our strategy this time will protect our attacking monsters by placing them in the middle position and also using monsters that are immune to the effects of Explosive Weaponry. We will use tankers who have high speed / good dodging abilities (Dodge and Flying ability) to avoid attacks from both side, in front and behind / last position.

With the Broken Arrow ruleset, we only have to focus on melee and magic attacks. This time we will use an attack towards the enemy's back using a monster that has the Sneak ability.

This is my lineup :

Kelya Frendul, Give armor and speed +1 to all friendly monsters.2 buff from this summoner is very good in this battle. With increasing speed, our monster has a chance to attack first, evade the enemy attack, and hit the enemy. Every attack will damage several enemies at once so speed it's important in this battle. Armor is essential too, because can block the damage from the Earthquake ruleset, and the damage from range and melee monsters.
Noa The Just, 1st position, attacker and tanker. It has the ability Rust, Dodge, and Backfire.We use this monster because it has the support ability Rust that will decrease all enemy monsters' armor by -2, which will kill the enemy faster. Without armor the unit who not have Flying ability will decrease the HP and make our melee unit easier to kill the enemy. This monster can't attack, but has high speed and Dodge ability which will increase the chance to evade the enemy's range and melee attack by 25%, to make it more annoying for the enemy, this monster has Backfire ability, if the enemy range and melee unit misses this unit with an attack, the attacker takes 2 melee damage. The weakness of this monster is the magic attack.
Venator Kinjo, 2nd position, support. Has the ability Reflection Shield, Camouflage, Immunity, and Slow.I used it because the Reflection Shield ability will disable the effect of Explosive Weaponry if the allied monster adjacent to this monster is attacked by Blast attack. Another useful ability in this battle is Slow It will decrease all enemy monster speed by -1. The enemy monster can't attack this monster unless moves to the first position because has Camouflage ability. Immunity ability make this monster immune to all negative status like Stun, Poison, Blind, Cripple, etc.
Pelacor Bandit, 3rd position, attacker. Has the ability Sneak, and Flying.This monster has fast speed and great damage, and with the Flying ability, it will increase the chance to evade the enemy melee and range attack by 25%, and most importantly it's become immune from the effect of the Earthquake ruleset. This is our attacker with the Sneak ability (attacks the monster in the last position). Because of the Flying ability we put the unit in the 3rd position I think this is the most important monster in this battle.
Uraeus, 4th position, attacker. Has the ability Sneak, and Poison.Use this monster because of the Poison ability (if inflicted on the enemy will decrease their HP every round**. Will cooperate with Pelacor Bandit to attack the enemy monster in the last position with Sneak ability. This monster will get damage from the Earthquake ruleset, hope can kill the enemy before that happen.
Torrent Fiend, 5th position, Tanker, has the ability Headwinds.We used this monster as a tanker in the back to protect our attack from Sneak attack. Another reason because it has zero mana cost we don't have any mana left.
Chaos Agent, 6th Position, Tanker, Has Ability Dodge, Phase, and BackfirePlace in the last position, same like Torrent Fiend this monster is to protect our attacker. This monster although can't attack can reflect the enemy's attack if the enemy attacks this monster and misses. With the Backfire ability it will deal 2 damage. Has a good evade ability, the Dodge ability which increases the chance of avoiding enemy attacks by 25%. Phase allows this monster to avoid magic type attacks.

Did your Strategy Work?

The working strategy :

  • Our sneak team Pelacor Conjurer and Uraeus manage to kill the enemy unit who have very high speed Regal Peryton they put the attacker behind and using Vruz the monster who have Martyr ability, when Vruz die will boost the stats of Void Dragon and Regal Peryton:
  • Put the Chaos agent and Torrent Fiend behind successfully protecting our attacker from the attack.

The Failed Strategy :

  • The enemy use magic unit as an attacker this is the weakness of our Noa the Just. I thought at first that the enemy will use same strategy like us using monster with the Sneak ability. At round 2 the enemy kill our Noa the Just

  • Noa the Just Rust ability is useless because the enemy unit not have any armor from the beginning

We managed to win the battle with luck mainly, when our attacker succeeded in hitting Regal Peryton and quickly killed the monster, thus making our tanker at the front strong enough to survive before the attack hit our Pelacor Bandit and Uraeus. This battle was difficult because we didn't anticipate any magic attacks, we have to admit that the enemy's formation was better than ours, it's just that we were lucky enough that our attack towards the back could hit the enemy who had high speed and great Flying ability.

yea lucky with that Uraeus RNG if the regal peryton does not die will lost for sure 😆
