Destroy the Armor - Make Sure Every Monster Can Attack Before It Dies


Hello, everyone how are you today, still play Splinterlands ? Today I will make a blog again about Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is Back to Basic ruleset.

  • Melee mayhem.png Melee Mayhem, A melee monster can attack from any position, it will attack the monster in the first position.
  • mana cap.
  • can use Water, Earth, Life, and Death element.

My Lineup and strategy

In battles with the Battle to Basic and Melee Mayhem ruleset usually magic attacks will be the thing that concerns us. Because magic attacks cannot miss and ignore our unit's armor, each attack will immediately reduce our monster's HP. This is different from ranged and melee attacks which can be dealt with in 2 ways:

  • Use monsters that have high speed, and hope we succeed in dodging the monster's range attacks.
  • Use monsters that have high HP and armor.

In the elements available in this battle, there is a summoner who is strong against magic attacks, namely Immortalist. Using this summoner, we only need to arrange a monster formation that focuses on dealing with melee and ranged attacks.

This is my lineup (all monster abilities are not working in this battle, only the summoner ability is working) :

Immortalis, Summoner. It can decrease enemy HP by -1. Have Void, and Shatter abilitiesWith Void ability can decrease the enemy magic attack by 50%. Shatter ability will destroy all armor from the monster we hit with only 1 attack. The Void and Shatter abilities are the only ability our monster have in this battle.
Vampire Bat, 1st position, attacker and tanker.Put this here as an attacker and tanker because it has high speed to increase the chance to attack first before it dies. With high speed we hope can evade several range/melee attacks before dying.
Mycelic Infantry, 2nd position, attacker and tanker.We put this monster in second place because it has large armor and HP., suitable to become a 2nd tanker with extra armor can defense better against ranged and melee attack. Has large damage of 5 but unfortunately the speed is low only 1, hope can hit the enemy.
Terraceous Grunt, 3rd position, attacker.We put this monster in 3rd place because it has large HP with only cost 6 mana.
Mycelic Slipspawn, 4th position, attacker.We use this monster because have High HP. The magic damage is not bad either.
Pelacor Mercenary, 5th Position, attacker.Another melee monster with good HP, the armor only 1 but that's enough to handle 1 hit from range or melee monster.
Regal Peryton, 6th Position, attacker.U must ask why I put the unit with high speed behind, isn't it better to put it upfront so can evade the enemy range and melee attack? The reason is that this monster has high speed this monster's main job: I hope can attack first every round and destroy the enemy armor. In the Melee Mayhem ruleset usually, the enemy will bring many melee monsters which sometimes have high armor. This will make our melee monster easier to decrease the enemy's HP.


Our Formation is finished and we are ready to battle :

The Battle

  • Round 1 :
    According to our plan, our Vampire Bat can attack and kill the enemy before it dies, so its death is not in vain, it can reduce 1 enemy monster. The monsters brought by the enemy use a lot of magic attacks, which is very beneficial for the monsters, you can see that in this round the enemy monsters' magic attacks only reduced our monsters' HP a little. In this round Corpse Fiend and Harklaw on the enemy's side died, while we lost Vampire Bat.


  • Round 2 :
    We can see in this round that Regal Peryton attacks first according to our plan decreasing the HP of Barash Kukor and destroying the armor. With no armor our monster Pelacor Mercenary easily killed Barash Kukor. Barash Kukor has great magic damage even though it has been reduced by our summoner's Void ability but before he died he attacked our Harklaw and killed him. We also easily killed the enemy's Magi of Chaos which advanced to first position.



  • Round 3-4 :
    There were no significant attacks from the enemy because there were only 2 monsters left while our Terraceous Grunt had a lot of HP. In the fourth round, the enemy's resistance was ended by Regal Peryton who attacked the enemy monster Lira the Dark and killed him.

Did your Strategy Work?

Yes, our strategy is working quite well:

  • Even though the Vampire Bat only has a mana cost of 3, it can withstand 2 enemy attacks Supply Runner and Barash Kukor, Because have high speed can kill the enemy in the first position Corpse Fiend before it dies.
  • Regal Peryton, who was tasked with destroying the enemy's armor, succeeded. It visible success at the start of the 2nd round when attacking Barash Kukor destroyed 4 pieces of armor and reduced his HP by 3.

In this battle, it seems like the enemy anticipated that we would use a lot of melee attacks because of the Melee Mayhem ruleset and decided to use a summoner who can give the Dodge ability (increases the chance of dodging ranged and melee attacks by 25%) to all monsters Friend.

it's a strategic card game, like Yugioh, we battle against other players using cards. can earn some money. If you like the trading game Splinterlands it's a very good game, already been around for a long time. 😀
