Dual Damaging Ruleset, Use Martyr and Heal Ability to Stay Alive

Hello everybody, how are you today? I hope you all have a good day, Today I will make a post about the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is Earthquake ruleset.

I play in the Modern Format Champion League, using my scholar account from Balthazar I only use cheap cards like Chaos, Reward, and some Neutral.

Ruleset

  • Earthquake, starting from round 2 each monster who not have Flying ability will take 2 melee damage at the end of each round.
  • firefox_kmY4Nhtuep.png Aimless ruleset, all monsters has Scattershot ability.
    • Scattershot ability, the range and magic attack will hit a random target.
  • firefox_5Cgkh5x8ei.png Noxious Fumes: All monsters have started a battle with poison status, starting at round 2 the HP will decrease -2 each round.
  • mana cap.
  • can use Fire, Earth, and Death.

My Lineup and strategy

This Earthquake and Noxious Fumes can do double damage to the monster who doesn't have Flying or Immunity ability, we don't have a monster with both abilities. If the monster doesn't have any of that ability the damage will be high. We decided to use the Earth element because it has a monster with the Heal and Flying ability, with Heal ability can restore the HP which decreases because of the Noxious Fumes. Another reason, I want to use the Earth summoner is that it has 2 monsters with the Martyr ability, this Martyr monster easily dies in this ruleset and gives boost stats to the monster adjacent to it, Earth element has 2 monsters Martyr abilities.

This is my lineup :

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
Immortalis, Summoner. Can decrease all enemy monsters' HP by -1. Have Void, and Shatter abilitiesI use this summoner because have Void ability, this ability can decrease the enemy magic attack by 50%, Shatter ability will destroy all armor from the monster we hit with only 1 attack. In this dual damaging ruleset decreasing the HP of all enemy units by -1 is great debuff,
Pelacor Mercenary, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Have Flying, Heal, and Retaliate ability. With the Flying ability this monster is immune from Earthquake damage. Flying ability will increase the chance to evade the enemy melee and range attack. The Heal ability will counter the effect of the poison which decreases the HP by -2 every round. If an enemy melee unit attacks this monster it has a 50% chance to attack back/counterattack.
Fungus Flinger, 2nd Position, attacker and support. Have Martyr, Blind, and Affliction abilities. This monster's main task is to die and give a stat boost to all basic stats monsters adjacent to it (Martyr ability). It has good support abilities though like Blind which increases the chance to evade the enemy melee and ranged attack by 15%. The Affliction ability effect has a 50% chance to inflict upon attack on the enemy monster, when the enemy monster gets Affliction status it can't be healed again.
Goblin Psychic, 3rd position, Attacker and Support. Have abilities Heal, Affliction, and Silence. This magic monster has many good support abilities, but the speed is only 1 easy to die when attacked by the enemy,I put it in this position to make sure it's safe from the front and back attack (only for melee attack, because magic and range hit random target i this battle), at least for a while. It can heal our tanker monster in the first position. The Silence ability will decrease all enemy magic damage by -1. Same As Fungus Flinger has Affliction ability, usually with the dual ruleset that gives damage the enemy will bring a healer or monster who has the ability Heal.
Queen Mycelia, 4th position, Attacker and Support. Have Protect, Amplify, Triage, and Rust abilitiesThis monster is weak has low speed, damage, and HP, easy to kill but has great support ability. Protect ability will increase all friendly monster armor by +2. Amplify will increase the effect of Thorns, Magic Reflect, and Return Fire by 1, but in this battle, we do not use this ability. The Triage ability will heal the monster with the most decreased HP who is not in the first position, in this battle ruleset, the Heal ability is very useful because many monsters behind will get damaged from the ruleset. Rust will decrease all enemy armor by -2. Same reason with our Goblin Psychic we put this monster here to make sure it's safe from the front and back attack.
Venari Marksrat, 5th position, Attacker and Support, has the ability Martyr, Ensnare, and Shatter.Like Fungus Flinger this monster has Martyr ability to boost the stats of Queen Mycelia and Mycelic Slipspawn, I hope they do not die first. The Ensnare ability will disable the Flying ability from the enemy monster if hit by this monster, which is very useful in this battle, I believe the enemy will bring a unit with the Flying ability because of the Earthquake ruleset.
Mycelic Slipspawn, 6th position, Attacker and Tanker. Have Taunt, Forcefield, and Slow abilitiesWith the Taunt ability all enemy monsters will attack this monster if they can. We use this monster to split the damage between the monster in the first position and Mycelic Slipspawn, with this monster our tanker in the front will last longer. the Forcefield ability will decrease all damage from the monster who has 5 or more damage to become 1 damage. Slow ability decreases all enemy speed by -1. it's good to debuff the enemy's speed it will increase our chance to attack first, hit the enemy, and dodge the enemy's attack

Our Formation is finished and we are ready to battle :

Did your Strategy Work?

Strategy works well :

  • Our monster that is next to the monster that has the Martyr ability survived for a while after getting additional stats in round 2. Queen Mycelia failed to get the effect of the Martyr ability because it died from the Noxious Fumes ruleset so Goblin Psychic gets the Martyr effect from 2 monsters Fungus Flinger and Venari Marksrat :
  • With the additional stats from the effect of Martyr ability, the monster in the back can survive long enough to help the Pelacor Mercenary attack the enemy and also restore the HP of the Pelacor Mercenary (Goblin Psychic). If it weren't for the Scattershoot ruleset which makes ranged and magic monsters attack the enemy randomly, we would most likely lose because most likely Pelacor Mercenary would get Affliction Status from Doctor Blight and can't Heal again. At the end of the round Doctor Blight and Mercenary Player face off and our Pelacor Mercenary is attacked by Doctor Blight and gets Affliction status so he can't Heal anymore, but Doctor Blight Gets 2 attacks from the ruleset in this battle the Earthquake and Noxious Fumes so it dies quickly, and the victory becomes ours.
