Hello every Splinters Lover, today I will make a post again about Battle Mage Secrets Challenge This week's theme is Even Stevens Ruleset :

I using my scholar account from Balthazar battle in Diamond League Modern Format, my deck only consist of Chaos Legion Card, Neutral Card, and some reward card.

Battle Link

Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Even Stevens, only monsters with even mana cost can be used in this battle.

  • Fire & Regret, all monsters have Return Fire ability.

    • When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker
  • Are You Not Entertained, can use 1 Gladius Card.

    • Gladius card usually can be used only in Brawl, but with this ruleset, we can use this card in battle rank. All Gladius card has Bloodlust ability, every time the monster kill the enemy monster all the stats will increase by 1.
  • Mana Cap 22.

  • Can use all elements except Dragon.

My Lineup and strategy

Some info we can use in this battle :

  • Ruleset Even Stevens, not many monsters with Sneak (attack monster in the last position) and Opportunity ability (attack enemy monster with the lowest attack) we can use, usually we can assume that the enemy will not use monsters with that ability but only focus fire on the monster in the front position. Another reason why the enemy usually does not use it is that many even mana-cost sneak and opportunity monster has a high price.
    • For information, this is a monster with a Sneak ability in this ruleset :

In my scholar I only Has liza the Fanged.

    • And monsters with Opportunity ability in this Even Stevens ruleset :

Runi is neutral but we can't rent that we must buy it and the price is high, I think more than 250$. We only have Celestial Harpy and Deeplurker in our scholar. Although the attack of Deeplurker is high I think to much mana cost for this battle.

  • Are You Not Entertained ruleset, I will not use the Gladius card, because my good Gladius card has a high mana cost, and another reason is that my Gladius card level is low, I will show my Gladius card, and the level at the end of my post.

So my conclusion is the enemy will focus fire attacking my first position monster, because of the *Fire & Regret ruleset I don't think the enemy will use range and will use the magic attack monster. So we use Death to decrease the magic attack by 1, but we are still cautious and will guard if the enemy uses a monster with Sneak/Opportunity

So this is our Line up :

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
Thaddius Brood, Summoner. Can decrease enemy monster magic damage and HP by -1This summoner is great against magic attacks.
Cursed Windeku, 1st position, Attacker and tanker. Has the ability Thorns, Heal, and Slow.Only cost 6 mana but has good damage, great HP can Heal, and has Thorns (every time the enemy melee monster attack this monster will receive damage of 2), so we put this in the 1st position. The slow ability is a support ability that is useful to decrease all enemy speed monsters by -1.
Shadow Snith 2nd position, attacker, and 2nd tanker. Has the ability Reach, Affliction, and DodgeThis melee monster can attack from 2nd position because has the ability Reach. We use this monster because has the ability of Affliction, in case the enemy brings a monster who can heal, we can stop that by inflicting affliction status on the enemy monster (each attack has the chance of 50% to inflict affliction status). Dodge ability make this monster suitable as a tanker, cause that will increase the chance to dodge melee and ranged attack by 25%)
Venari Bonesmith, 3rd position, attacker. Has ability Leech, Poison, and DispelPut this in the 3rd position because has Life leech ability, every time this monster attacks the enemy monster, the HP will increase in proportion to the damage dealt. I hope if the Windeku and Shadow Snith die this monster already has good HP to guard against enemy attack. Every time this monster attack has a 50% chance to inflict the poison status, if the enemy got poisoned every round the HP will decrease by 2. In case the enemy brings Gladius monster we can dispel that ability and the enemy monster's increase stats will be reset to normal again.
Ravenhood Warden, 4th position, attacker, and support. Has the ability Armor, and Inspire. The weakness of the Death element because the monster usually has small HP and no Armor. With this Ravenhood finally, the Death can have armor while using Death Summoner. The Inspire will Increase Windeku and Shadow Snith damage by 1. This monster is a range type of attack and will receive damage if we attack the enemy because of the ruleset Fire & Regret, but the support ability is very useful so we still use it.
Corpse Fiend, 5th position, tanker. Has Silence abilityBecause we already used up all of our mana, we used this monster with 0 mana cost. This monster has the support ability Silence which can decrease the enemy magic attack by 1. Put this monster in the last position as a tanker, in case the enemy brings the monster with the sneak and opportunity ability, the enemy needs to kill this monster first before they can attack our support monster, Ravenhood Warden.

The Battle

Enemy monsters formation.

Our monster formation.

  • Round 1:
The battle started with buff and debuff from both sides.
As the battle started immediately The enemy Deeplurker attacked our Corpse Fiend destroying the armor and inflicting it with poison.
The enemy Baakjira is a pain in the ass, cause has high HP with healing ability. Fortunately when Shadow Snitch attacked the Baakjira inflicted the Afflictions status, so the Baakjira can't heal anymore.

  • Round 2:
At around 2 started our Corpse Fiend got 2 damage from the poison and died. Enemy Baakjira's almost died in this round.

  • Round 3:
In this round Ravenhood Warden dies attacked by the enemy Deeplurker, so all the buff +1 armor and damage in all friendly monsters disappears. The enemy Baakjira dies attacked by Venari Bonesmith in this round so the Dangerous monster Deeplurker moves to the first position, and is immediately attacked by Windeku and Shadow Snith decreasing the HP with only 3 HP left.

  • Round 4 :
Deeplurker dies attacked by Shadow Snith without having a chance to attack.

  • Round 5 :
With only 2 monsters left with 1 damage each, the enemy can't do much. The enemy Torrent Fiend died attacked by Cursed Windeku, and the victory is ours.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy is proceeding as planned/anticipated:
The enemy is utilizing a healing monster, but we successfully counter it by afflicting the enemy with the Affliction effect. This enables us to more easily defeat Baakjira.
The enemy brings a monster with the Opportunity ability, but fortunately, we have prepared a mana zero-cost tanker monster Corpse Fiend as bait. By doing so, we eliminate their tanker, Baakjira, before Deeplurker can inflict significant damage on our backline monsters. Deeplurker is not suited to serve as a tanker due to its stats and abilities, allowing us to easily defeat it.
In my view, the enemy made an error by deploying Deeplurker without any accompanying monsters attacking our backline. Deeplurker struggles to swiftly eliminate our monsters, while our focused attacks on the enemy's front position facilitate our success in defeating them.

Why don't you use Gladius Card ?

As I stated earlier, the majority of our Gladius Cards with an even mana cost have either low levels or high mana costs. Quora Towerhead might be the only one that is sufficiently powerful. Nevertheless, utilizing Quora would mean being limited to only a few accompanying monsters, and the associated risk would be too great. Given the enemy's current monster formation in the battle, it is guaranteed that we will be defeated if we opt for Quora.
This is the Gladius card we have :

Our Gladius Card in the Water element.

Our Gladius Card in Fire element.

Our Gladius Card in Life element.

Our Gladius Card in Earth element.

Our Gladius Card in Death element.
