Magic in Super Sneak, Strong Tanker Increase the Chance to Win

Hello everybody, already have a nice Weekend? EOS is today how many chests do you get? On the day of EOS, I will make a post again for the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week theme for this event is Super Sneak ruleset. This ruleset will give advantage to the melee attacker because melee monster now can attack from any position.

I play in the Modern Format, DiamondLeague, using my scholar account from Balthazar. This is their Discord if u want to join, but u must waitlist first because right now the scholar is full.

Ruleset

  • Unprotected, all monsters can't have any armor.
  • Super Sneak, all monsters have Sneak ability.
    • Sneak ability: melee monster can attack the enemy in the last position from any position.
  • Mana cap.
  • Can use element Earth and Death.

My Lineup and strategy

  • In the Super Sneak and Unprotected ruleset, there are several ways to deal with it:
    • Bring monsters that have the Shield ability (reducing melee damage by 50%).
    • Bring monsters that have high speed and evade abilities such as Dodge or Flying abilities which can increase the ability to dodge melee attacks and range as much as 50%.
    • Or provide a surprising attack by bringing a magic monster and attacking the enemy monster in the first position.

Because Unprotected ruleset we only have 1 option to use monsters with the Shield ability and put it behind. We just hope that the enemy doesn't bring many magic monsters, to deal with this we decided to use the Thaddius Brood summoner which can reduce magic damage by 1.
This formation we will use is strong against melee attacks behind but weak against magic in the front.

All monsters do not have any armor because of this ruleset, but I just used the original picture when the monsters still have armor.

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
Thaddius Brood, Summoner. Can decrease enemy monster magic damage and HP by -1This summoner is great against magic attacks.
Djinn Muirat, 1st position, Attacker and Tanker. Has the abilities Void Armor, Knock Out, Giant Killer, Magic Reflect, and Forcefield.Just in case the enemy brings a Magic monster we put a monster this is in first position. We only have this monster which has the ability to face magic monsters, although not very well because there is no armor, the abilities used in this battle are only Giant Killer (double damage when attacking monsters with 10 mana or more), Reflect magic, when attacked by Magic monsters will deal damage back. Forcefield (if the enemy monster's damage is 5 or greater it will be reduced to 1 when it hits this monster. The ability Void Armor actually very useful against magic, because they need to break the armor first before can hit the HP, but because of the ruleset we have no armor so this ability is useless.
Legionnaire Alvar 2nd position, attacker. Has the ability Void Armor, Giant Killer, Demoralize and Death Blow. The Damage and speed are rather low, but the main reason we use this monster is because it has the ability Demoralize which can reduce damage from melee monsters by 1. Place it in the second position because we hope the enemy doesn't bring magic monsters, so it will be safe in this position.
Disintegrator,3rd position, attacker. Has the ability Demoralize, Trample, Knock Out, and Retaliate. For the same reason as Legionnaire Alvar, we use this monster to further reduce damage from melee enemy monsters with the ability Demoralize. Have Trample ability: if this monster kills the enemy will immediately attack the enemy behind. Retaliate ability is very useful when dealing with melee monsters, every time it gets a melee attack there is a 50% chance of counterattacking.
Venari Bonesmith, 4th position, attacker. Has the ability Life Leech, Poison, and Dispel.Use this monster because of the Poison ability (if inflicted on the enemy will decrease their HP every round**. Life Leech's ability will make this monster's HP increase every time the attack hits the enemy. Dispel is a good support ability because can remove all positive statuses from the enemy monster like Swiftness, Bloodlust, Inspire, Etc.
Curse Windeku, 5th position, attacker. Has the ability Thorn, Heal, and Slow. This is our 2nd tanker for the ruleset Super Sneak because can restore HP every round because of the ability Heal and every time the melee monster hits this monster will get damaged -2 HP cause of the Thorns ability. If the attacker monster has Shield ability only gets damage -1 HP. Slow is another good support ability, will decrease all enemy monsters' speed by -1 giving our monster an increased chance to attack first and kill the enemy monster.
Harklaw, 6th position, attacker and tanker. Has the ability Shield, Immunity, and Demoralize. This is our main tanker for this Ruleset Super Sneak, With the ability Shield will decrease the melee damage by 50%, if the enemy only has 1 melee damage this monster will ignore the damage. Like Legionnaire Alvar and Disintegrator this monster has Demoralize ability to further decrease the enemy melee monster damage. With immunity this monster is immune to all negative statuses, like poison, Blind, Demoralize, Etc

The Battle

The enemy brings a tanker in the first position which is difficult to deal with. This Almo Cambio monster has high speed and can also avoid all kinds of attacks magic, ranged, and melee. Immune to all negative statuses, so cannot be poisoned, stunned, crippled, etc. Apart from that, it can reflect damage from ranged or magic attacks onto the attacker.
The enemy also brought magic monsters Mycelic Slipspawn and Kron. These two magic monsters will attack our monster in the first position.
With a total damage of 7, these two monsters will be dangerous for our monsters in first position who are not very ready to face monsters with magic attacks.
In this battle, we have the advantage of bringing 3 monsters that have the ability to Demoralize, namely Harklaw, Disintegrator, and Legionnaire Alvar, so that the enemy's melee monster attacks will be small. The enemy only brought 1 monster that has the Demoralize ability, the Disintegrator.

  • Round 1:
Our Venari Bonesmith who attacked Almo was counterattacked so his HP was reduced by 1, fortunately Bonesmith has the Life Leech ability so his HP was not reduced.
Our monster, which on average has faster speed, attacks first, Venari Bonesmith attacks Mycelic Slipspawn giving damage and Poison effects. The enemy Mycelic Slipspawn attacked our monster Djinn Muirat, and his attack was reflected back.
Then another of our monsters followed to attack the Mycelic Slipspawn Harklaw, Curse Windeku, and ended by Legionnaire Alvar who managed to kill him.
Enemy Mycelic Infantry who are attacked by our monster Disintegrator activates its Enrage ability and increases its status from 2 damage 1 speed to 3 damage 2 speed.
At the end of this round, Djinn Muirat, who was hit by attacks from Kron and Mycelic Slipspawn, had 1 HP left.
We can see that in this round only the enemy Mycelic Infantry's melee monsters can deal damage to our monster Harklaw which has the Shield ability.
Other enemy monsters, Pelacor Mercenary and Disintegrator attacks, cannot reduce Harklaw's HP.

    • In this battle, we have to destroy the enemy monster Kron's before it can kill our tanker monsters in front with magic attacks and remove the Demoralize ability. First, we kill the enemy Mycelic Infantry monsters and then kill Kron.

  • Round 2:
Our Venari Bonesmith managed to hit Almo again, reducing his HP by 2, unfortunately we couldn't give this monster a poison effect because of Almo's Immunity ability.
Djinn Muirat who attacked Almo with 3 damage was counterattacked and died in this round, so our monster Legionnaire Alvar moved to first position and received an attack from Kron leaving his HP at 3.
Legionnaire Alvar with low speed attacked Almo but unfortunately, his attack was avoided.
Mycelic Infantry enemy monsters are very difficult to kill because all our melee monster attacks are reduced by 50% due to the Shield ability.
At the end of the round, the enemy Mycelic Infantry had 3 HP left. The enemy Almo had 10 HP left at the end of the round.

  • Round 3:
Venari Bonesmith attacked again for the first time in this round and reduced Almo's HP again by 2.
The enemy monster Mycelic Infantry was finally killed after being attacked by Harklaw.
Our monster Legionnaire Alvar also died in this round being attacked by Kron so the effect of Demoralize disappeared and but the enemy melee monsters did not increase their damage because they only had 3 damage and there were still 2 monsters that had the Demoralize ability on our side Harklaw and Disintegrator.

There are 4 monsters left on each side at the end of the round.

  • Round 4:
Our monsters Disintegrator and Venator Bonesmith managed to hit Almo and left him with 4 HP.
Harklaw and Windeku focused on attacking Kron, at the end of the round Kron's HP was 8 out of a total of 11 HP due to activating his Healing ability and restoring his HP.
Our monster Disintegrator's HP remains at 3 after receiving an attack from Kron.
Like the previous round, enemy Mercenary and Disintegrator players cannot reduce the HP of our monster Harklaw.

  • Round 5:
Venari Bonesmith hit Almo and left his HP at 2. Unfortunately our Disintegrator attack didn't hit Almo.
Our Disintegrator dies in this round being hit by Kron. Here the situation is getting more difficult for our team, with the death of our monster Disintegrator it removes the effect of Demoralize, damage from enemy Pelacor Mercenaries and Disintegrator increases by 2,
Here you can see the enemy Disintegrator who had the last turn to attack, which previously only produced 0 damage has now succeeded in reducing our monster Harklaw's HP by 1.
In this round, Kron's remaining HP is 5 after healing, the determination of losing or winning will be in round 6.

  • Round 6:
This time the attack from Venari Bonesmith succeeded in killing Almo and the enemy monster Pelacor Mercenary advanced to first position, and attacked Venari Bonesmith leaving his HP at 4.
After that, it was the turn of the Curse Windeku and Harklaw monsters who had faster speed than the enemy monsters who had not yet had their turn to attack, both of them attacked Kron in turn, and Harklaw manages to kill him.
This round closed with the Disintegrator enemy monster attacking Harklaw, leaving him with 4 HP.
With Kron's death, we are quite confident that we can win this battle.

  • Round 7:
Our Venari Bonesmith attacks the Pelacor Mercenary reducing its HP by 2 and giving it a poison effect.
Windeku who attacks the enemy's Disintegrator gets a counterattack (Retaliate ability) which benefits us because the enemy's damage is only 2 and when he attacks Windeku is hit by an attack from the Thorns ability and his HP is reduced by 2.
Harklaw gets the next turn to attack the enemy Disintegrator and manages to kill it.
At the end of the round, Venari Bonesmith, who was attacked by the Pelacor Mercenary, had 3 remaining HP. And the enemy Pelacor Mercenary also restored his HP again with his Healing ability.

  • Round 8:
At the start of the round the **Pelacor Mercenary has its HP reduced by 2 due to the effects of the poison.
Even though he had time to Heal to restore his HP but was attacked by 3 of our monsters, and was poisoned, the Pelacor Mercenary had no chance of winning this battle.
In round 9, Pelacor Mercenary finally died under an attack from Windeku.

Did your Strategy Work?

Our strategy almost didn't work this time because we didn't expect that the enemy would bring a very strong magic monster, Kron.
Apart from having great damage, this monster also has Heal and Divine Shield abilities (will ignore damage from the first attack). Luckily our 2nd tanker at the front was still able to survive until we finally managed to kill Kron at the back.
Our strategy of bringing lots of monsters with the Demoralize ability was successful in reducing the damage from melee enemy monsters, as a result, our monster Harklaw with the Shield ability was not damaged, or only had its HP reduced a little and was able to survive until the end.

Better Strategy

By using the summoner Immortalis can give all monsters, Void and Shatter abilities, also can reduce the enemy's HP to -1.
The Void ability will reduce magic damage by 50%, so we can focus on dealing with melee attacks. With the Shatter ability we can destroy any size armor with one attack, but in this battle, it's useless because there is already a Unprotected ruleset.
