Splinterlands is and NFT game Free to Play. If you are new and want to try this game you can do it without spend any money. My post will try to guide the new player through creating and maximizing their Free-To-Play experience.

• Creating Free to Play (F2P) account :
  • go to Register link, fill in the column according to your email, username, and password you like.
    
  • Congratulations you are done and ready to play, I suggest you Visit the Tutorial first to understand the basic gameplay :
    

• Key Features of a F2P Account :
  • Earn Glint, by winning the battle.
    
  • Buy Card packs, energy, etc in the Glint Shop to enhance your gameplay :
    
  • You can receive card delegation. As a F2P player, you can borrow cards from your friends or ask the community like Splinterlands Discord. Many low-level cards are cheap if you ask maybe someone willing to delegate them to you for free.
  • Join the guild by setting the filter to open. This means you don't need permission to join, just click join, and if there is still a slot, you can join.
    
    You can talk in there to get advice, tips, or maybe someone willing to do a delegate card for you. You can try to join Brawl (PVP between guilds). Better ask first if it's okay if a newbie player wants to do Brawl.
  • Try to climb the rank/League every time your league is up, you can get a chest with a reward card, potion, Merit, and energy :
    

• Tips to navigate and enjoy Splinterlands as a Free-To-Play player :

  • Do the battle ranked every day to get Glint make sure the energy is always below 50 (the energy will show when your league reaches bronze III) when you play so you can maximize the Glint earned every season.
    

  • Learn every ruleset and ability that you don't know (you can go to Splinterlands help, and try to memorize the enemy formation you think is good and use it in the battle, so your winning rate increases and you can enjoy the game.

  • Active in a community like Splinterlands Discord will help you progress toward better player faster. Many pro players there have great tips and strategies, some may be willing to borrow you a card (delegation) or sometimes give you a token (Dec/SPS) to rent a card.

  • For the F2P account although it's fun and you don't need any money to start, there are limitations:

    • Starter Deck (card) is limited, you only have a small collection of cards, and not powerful enough, although you got card delegation usually not too much, still considered a standard card, and it's only a temporary solution.
    • Without buying a Spellbook you can't get the SPS token reward and only get Glint.
      
    • Without buying a card or renting a card your winning rate in ranked battles will decrease, and your journey to collecting Glint takes time.

Starting your Splinterlands journey with a Free-To-Play account is a rewarding experience if you like the game. By focusing on ranked battles, engaging with the community, and learning every aspect of the game (ruleset, ability, unis), you can enjoy the game while increasing your skill as a player. When you are ready to become a player who Plays to Earn by buying Spellbook, staking SPS, and renting/buying a card you will learn faster to win and get more rewards.
Remember that every battle brings you closer to mastering the Splinterlands.
