Sacrifice The Little One To Protect The Main Tanker

My Lineup and strategy

In battles with the Battle to Basic ruleset, the position of the monster is very important, normally the monster with the largest HP will be placed at the front, if it has armor it will be given priority. Monsters with large attacks will be placed in the back position, usually in the order of Melee, Magic, and finally Range monsters because range monsters cannot attack when advancing to the first position so they must be placed at the back.
Because only the summoner has the ability, we have to guess in advance whether the enemy will use a ranged or magic type attack. We guess that the enemy will use more range attacks but Judging from the available elements the enemy can use magic monsters with a large amount of damage, therefore to be safe we ​​will use a summoner from the Life element which can provide additional armor and also change the armor to Void Armor so that magic attacks must destroy the armor first before it can reduce HP, just like attacks from ranged type monsters.
This is my lineup (all monster abilities are not working in this battle, only the summoner ability which is working) :

Gargoya Scrapper, 1st position, Attacker and tankerYou must be wondering why monsters with small HP are placed in the front, don't you think according to our strategy above you should put monsters with large HP and armor in the front. I do this because If you are lucky, placing this monster in front can absorb a large amount of damage from the enemy monster before it dies. We'll discuss more below.
Uriel the Purifier, 2nd position, attacker and tanker.Ini adalah tanker utama kita dengan HP dan armor yang besar bisa menahan serangan banyak musuh. Monster ini juga bisa menyerang dengan damage yang besar.

Djinn Renova, 4th position, attackerWe put this monster here to protect our range monsters in positions 5 and 6 from enemy attacks. This monster has a big attack but will die easily if attacked but our range monster will not be able to attack in the first position so we have to sacrifice this unit to give our range monster time to attack.
Gem Meteor 5th position.Same reason with Time Mage we put this monster with high speed here to protect our last monster from range attack, although we have a dilemma here should we put our Portal Spinner who has more armor here or in last position, if the enemy use many magic attacks then we will be in a disadvantage.
Portal Spinner 6th position.This is our last attacker with high damage range attack.



We are ready to battle now :

The Battle

  • Round 1 :
    You can see what I mean by absorbing a lot of damage from enemy attacks, when the enemy monster Forgotten One attacks our monster Gargoya Scrapper which only has 1 HP left, this is very beneficial for us because with 1 HP it can withstand the enemy attacks of 5 damage.



  • Round 2:
    Frankly, we didn't expect the enemy to use the summoner Jacek which caused all range and magic attacks to hit our monsters randomly. In this round, Gem Meteor died from a random enemy attack, which is very unfortunate because this monster has great damage.



  • Round 3:
    With high speed, the enemy killed our monsters behind Djinn Renova and Portal Spinner who didn't have time to attack. We are left with only 2 monsters in this round against 3 enemy monsters.



  • Round 4:
    In this round Time Mage managed to kill Moxian Rebel so that at the end of the round, it was 2 vs 2.



  • Round 5 :
    A random attack from the enemy Supply Runner killed our Time Mage.



  • Round 6-7:
    It can be seen that the enemy had difficulty killing Uriel because of the HP and armor he had so in this 1 on 2 battle Uriel finally killed the Lava Launcher, the enemy Supply Runner who is a ranger monster moved to the first position and can't attack anymore, easy win for Uriel and the battle over with victory on our side.

Did your Strategy Work?

We guess that the enemy will attack with the main attack of the range monster in the rear position is correct. In my opinion, there are 2 main enemy attacks, melee, and range which have big damage. For the Forgotten One melee attack, we managed to handle it. There is the following successful and less successful strategies:

  • Our strategy of using the summoner Grandmaster Rathe which can add +1 armor and feed small monsters with 1 mana in front worked well, this unit can withstand 2 enemy attacks Supply Runner (if there is no additional armor then This monster was already dead when attacked by Supply Runner) and Forgotten One. The Forgotten One attack which has 6 damage kills the Gargoya Scrapper which only has 1 HP, thereby saving our main tanker from enemy attacks that have large damage. In the 2nd round, Forgotten One didn't have a chance to attack because it died attacked by our Time Mage.

  • Meanwhile, the strategy to adjust the position of our monsters by placing monsters with high speed in front (Time Mage and Gem Meteor) in the hope of being able to avoid ranged attacks doesn't work well, apart from the enemy using a summoner that can provide high speed, the enemy unit attacks are also random, in this battle many enemy monsters is hit our attacking monster right in the back and kill it.
