The Enemy Immune Against The Ruleset - Our Unit Get Damage Every Round Because of The Ruleset, Can We Win ?

Hello everybody, we meet again. Today I will make a post again about the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is Counterspell ruleset.

I play in the Modern Format Diamond League, using my scholar account from Balthazar I only use cheap cards like Chaos, Reward, and some Neutral.

Ruleset

  • Taking Sides, Neutral monsters can't be used in this battle.

  • Fire & Regret, all monsters have Return Fire ability.

    • When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage to their attacker. Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
  • all monsters have Counterspell ability.

    • Magic Reflect
When hit with magic damage, does reduce Magic damage back to the attacker. Deals damage equivalent to the attacker's damage divided by 2, rounded up
  • mana cap.

  • can use Fire, Earth, Life, Death, and Dragon element.

My Lineup and strategy

  • Because of the ruleset Counterspell and Fire & Regret we decided to increase the counter damage using Amplify ability. Because I'm sure that the enemy will use a magic or range type attack to be able to attack from behind, even though it will get a counterattack that is less than the original attack.
  • Taking Sides ruleset is not important in this battle, we don't have Neutral monsters that are important/strong for this battle.

This is my lineup :

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
The Grandmaster Rathe(summoner), make all friendly monster have Armor +1, Void Armor, and Amplify abilityThis monster will give all friendly monster +1 armor, change the armor to void armor (magic damage will hit armor first before the HP) with the ruleset Armored Up will make the enemy magic attack harder to kill our monsters. The most important ability in this battle is Amplify, in this battle, it will Increase Magic Reflect and Return Fire damage by 1.
Uriel the Purifier, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Has the Ability Flying, Recharge, Heal, and Redemption. This monster has high armor, and HP, and can Heal a very strong tanker. The other support ability he has is the Flying ability which increases the chance to evade the enemy melee and range attack by 25%. When this monster dies it will give damage to all enemy monsters by 1 (Redemption ability).
Iziar 2nd position, Attacker and Tanker. Has the ability Taunt, Void, and Martyr abilityPlaced in the 2nd position so the enemy damage can be split with the monster in the first position, and we want this monster Martyr ability to boost the stats of Uriel and Djinn Renova. This monster has a Taunt ability, which makes all enemy if can will attack this monster. With the Void ability will be half the damage of the magic attack. Apart from that, this monster has a large HP the enemy will need time to kill this monster giving time for our attacker to be safe from attack while attacking the enemy monsters/unit.
Djinn Renova, 3rd position, attacker and support. Has the ability Strengthen and TriagePlaced in 3rd position as a backup tanker to protect our monster behind, and to Heal Iziar. The Strengthen ability she has is another good ability that gives all friendly monsters +1 HP.
Adelade Brightwing, 4th position, Attacker and Support, has the ability Flying, Repair, Resurrect, Immunity, and Swiftness.Placed in the 5th position because this monster is weak against attack easy to die, put here to protect it against front and back atack. This monster has Immunity ability which ignores the Poison effect. The Flying ability gives a 25% increase in the chance to evade the enemy melee and range attack. We use this monster because of The Resurrect ability which is very useful for reviving our monster Iziar, we use this monster to double the effect of the Martyr ability. The ability Swiftness will help all our monsters to get a +1 speed boost so can increase the chance to attack first, evade the enemy attack, and hit the enemy. Repair ability will help our monster survive, this will restore the ally armor with the most damage.
Runeslinger 5th position, Attacker. Has the ability Stun, Affliction, and Cripple abilityWe use this range monster because have high HP, although the attack got reflected it will last longer, hope can give negative status to the enemy monsters. This monster has great debuff when attacking. If the enemy monster gets attacked by this monster and gets the Affliction effect it will make that monster can't heal/receive heal anymore. The enemy monster who got Stun will skip its next turn. The chance for Affliction and Stun effect to be inflicted is 50% for each attack. Cripple ability will decrease the maximum health of the monster who got hit by -1. This will decrease the effectiveness of the enemy Heal.
War Pegasus 6th position, Attacker. Has the ability Flying and ShatterPlaced in the last position because it has the ability Flying and has high speed, in case the enemy brings a monster with Sneak ability hope this monster can evade 1 or 2 attacks before being killed. Shatter will destroy the enemy armor monster in one attack. Same as Runeslinger this monster has high HP too. Although the damage got reflected I hope can help our tanker to kill the enemy first.

Our Formation is finished and we are ready to battle :

Did your Strategy Work?

In this battle, our plan to use a summoner who has the Amplify ability to increase the counterattack damage from the enemy's ranged and magic attacks failed miserably, the enemy brought ranged and magic type monsters that were immune to counterattacks because they all had the Reflection Shield ability. When I saw the enemy formation which was carrying a lot of magic monsters I could only hope for the Taunt ability and Martyr ability that Iziar has. Iziar is very strong against magic attacks because of his Void ability so he lasted quite a long time in this battle, allowing our attacking monsters to kill the enemy in the first place. And when Iziar died in the 3rd round the effect of the Martyr ability made Djinn Renova easily kill the monsters in the first place one by one.

Even though our range and magic monsters received reflect attacks but lucky we brought support units such as healer Djinn Renova, monsters who can repair armor Adelade Brightwing as well as Martyr abilities from Iziar which increased all the stats of Uriel and Djinn Renova so all our monsters can survive until the end, except **Iziar, that monster job is to die and activated Martyr ability.
Although the enemy range and magic unit are immune to the counterattack / Reflect damage ruleset, the HP and armor of the units they carry are small and there is no monster support, easy to die.

I think another tip we can add in this battle is to make sure that if we bring monsters that will be exposed to reflected damage, the unit has enough HP/armor, and if possible bring a support unit (heal, restore armor, etc.).

Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to review my battle report. I appreciate your efforts and would be grateful if you could provide me with feedback on any mistakes you find by leaving a comment.
