Use The Slow Unit In the Explosive Weaponry and Reverse Speed Ruleset
Hello, everyone who love Splinterlands, how are you today ?. I hope you all doing great. Today I will make a post again about the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. This Week's Theme is Reverse Speed ruleset.
I usually battled in the Modern Format Diamond League using my 2 scholar accounts from Balthazar scholar bltzr-wizard-710 and bltzr-wizard-711.

Ruleset
- Explosive Weaponry, all monsters have blast ability.
- Blast ability, does additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
- Equal Opportunity, all monsters have Opportunity ability.
- Opportunity ability, all monsters will attack the enemy monsters with the lowest HP.
- Reverse Speed, monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
- mana cap.
- can use all element except Death element.
My Lineup and strategy
- For Explosive Weaponry we will trying to isolate the damage by using units with the Taunt and Reflection Shield ability, as long this unit is alive the Equal Opportunity ruleset will not come into play.
- If we can we will use units with the slowest speed and have useful ability in the Reverse speed ruleset. It is not mandatory to use a slow unit, sometimes because of some great damage or useful ability we will still use that unit, as we will see in the Lineup we use :

Have Void, and Shatter abilities | We use this unit because the Void ability can decrease the enemy magic attack by 50% so we can focus on the enemy range and melee unit. The Shatter ability will destroy all armor from the monster we hit with only 1 attack. | |
Mycelic Infantri, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Has the ability Shield and Giant Killer. | Put this here as a main tanker because it has the slow speed which is 1 this is the fastest speed in the Reverse Ruleset and has Shield ability which will decrease the enemy melee and range damage by 50%. The unit's weakness is magic attack but we counter that weakness with our summoner Immortalist. It has Giant Killer ability which makes this unit do double damage when hit unit with 10 or more mana cost. | |
Uloth dhampir, 5th position, attacker and support. Have Stun, and Triage abilities | Although this unit has a good speed of 4 (which means rather slow in this ruleset) we need the damage and ability of this unit. We need this monster to Heal our Mycelic Slipspawn in the last position, . The Stun ability has a chance of 50% to be inflicted upon each attack. the enemy who get this status will skip 1 turn. | |
Goblin Psychic, 3rd position, attacker and support. Have abilities Heal, Affliction, and Silence. | This monster has many good support abilities, although this unit havefast speed of 1 but this unit easy to die so we put it in the middle position to make sure it's safe from the front and back attack, at least for a while. This monster can heal our tanker monster in the front. The Silence ability will decrease all enemy magic damage by -1. The Affliction ability have 50% chance to inflicted on the enemy unit. If the enemy got Affliction status it can't be heal anymore. | |
Queen Mycelia, 3rd position, attacker and support. Have Protect, Amplify, Triage, and Rust abilities | Same as Goblin Psychic, although has good speed this monster is weak against range and melee damage with small HP so easy to die but has great support and ability. Protect ability will increase all friendly monster armor by +2. . The Triage ability will heal the monster with the most decreased HP who is not in the first position (same as Uloth Dhampir). Rust will decrease all enemy armor by -2. | |
Ancient Redwood,5th position, attacker and tanker. Have True Aim, Reflection Shield, Fury and Piercing abilities | We use this monster because of the Reflection ability ability, because we put the unit who has Taunt ability Mycelic Slipspawn behind this unit, all enemy unit if can will attack the Mycelic Slipspawn and give damage to the monster adjacent to the unit (Explosive Weaponry ruleset), with Reflection Shield the Blast effect will be disabled. This unit has a fast speed of 1 and great damage of 6. This unit attack can't be missed because have True Aim ability. The Fury ability will do double damage to the unit that has the Taunt ability. Piercing ability will do damage to the HP if the armor of the enemy is destroyed and still has some damage left. | |
Mycelic Slipspawn, 6th position, attacker and tanker. Have Taunt, Forcefield, and Slow abilities | We use this monster because of the Taunt ability, all enemy units will attack this monster if they can so we can control the effect from the Blast damage by forcing the enemy to attack this unit. The Forcefield ability will decrease all damage from the monster who has 5 or more damage to become only 1 damage, we count on this ability to survive this battle. To bad this unit has Slow ability which decreases all enemy speed by -1, which this ability will buff the speed of all enemy unit. |
Our Formation is finished and we are ready to battle, not much ability we can see in this formation because only the summoner has the ability, buff and debuff :
Did your Strategy Work?
Although at first it not working but in the end it work. Because the enemy brings a summoner who can force our unit to have Taunt ability. This time the enemy forced our Goblin Psychic to have the Taunt ability.
The enemy unit kept attacking our Goblin Psychic which later dies together with our Queen Mycelia, and then the enemy unit attack switch to our Mycelic Slipspawn. Luckily our Uloth Dhampir is still alive so can heal our Mycelic Slipspawn the enemy
I think we can win this battle for several reasons:
- We bring some unit with slow speed and have Heal ability.
- Have Mycelic Slipspawn with the Taunt ability.
- We bring Ancient Redwood, first, it kills the enemy unit Iidri Fyre that has Taunt ability and has 9 HP because this unit has double damage when hits a unit with the Taunt ability. Then it kills the enemy Nimblebook Scout together with the enemy unit Goblin Psychic.
