Splinterlands Weekly Challenge: Goblin Psychic

splinterlands.com lore

The Magi Tower is where Goblins go to learn how to use psychic abilities. It isn't just a gift Goblins can learn, but due to the proximity of Gobson, Goblins tend to show up more frequently. The Magi who calls the tower home, enjoys teaching the art of using one's mind to move objects and read thoughts. Goblin Psychics use their abilities to perform work in Gobson or become adventurers and practice to become a full fledged Summoner.

The Lineup

Summoner

For this battle I chose Obsidian as my summoner. She is a bit higher Mana cost, but gives a +1 to Magic so it is a good offset. She was also able to give that boost to both monsters that I selected for this battle so it worked out very well.

Front Row

Mycelic Slipspawn was chosen as the main tank, and it is a beast. At 9 Mana cost it has 2 Magic Damage, 2 Speed, 10 Health and the Taunt Ability. This mean it has plenty of health to take whatever the opposing team can dish out. Taunt keeping the rest of the team safe. And with it's now 3 Magic attack, thanks to Obsidian, can dish out a lot of damage.

Second

The Goblin Psychic is really a great card, not only for this Battle Challenge, but for this specific battle in general. With a 6 Mana cost, rounding out this 19 Mana battle, the Goblin Psychic has 2 Magic Attack, 1 Speed, 3 Health and the Tank Heal Ability. So while the Slipspawn is taking all the damage thanks to Taunt, the Psychic is giving it back. And to top it off he can also dish out Damage since, thanks again to Obsidian, is now doing 3 Magic Attacks

Battle Breakdown

So, how did the battle go with my two monsters vs. Drakes five monsters? Well, better than I could have imagined...

In Round 2 my team was able to take out the Cursed Windeku and the Cursed Slimeball. Round 3 we took out the Undead Badger. Round 4 the Slipspawn took out the Silent Sha-Vi, and after throwing down a quick heal the Psychic took out the Carrion Shade giving a quick end to this battle.

While Drake was a formidable opponent, his +1 shield fell short against magic attacks, and all his sneak was nullified thanks to the Slipspawn and the Taunt ability.
