Modern EPIC Monsters You Need! - Part 3

In this post I want to spend a short time talking about the "EARTH" deck and "Modern" must own monsters, specifically "EPIC".

This is part 3 of a 7 part mini series where I delve into what I believe is the best "EPIC" "Modern" mosters to own, looking at both "Utility" "Synergy" and "Cost".

Grund

You could say end the blog there, everyone knows the power of this EPIC card and you'd be correct...Grund is a mighty beast with that 3x Melee, 3x Speed, x10 HP and Double Strike all at level 1, its an OP card. Now take it to MAX and your at 4x Melee, 3x Speed, x13 HP and Double Strike and Trample and Cripple it doesn’t get any better! At MAX level you could technically be hitting for x12 each turn! Assuming your getting the kills and activating Trample! It is obviously open to magic and being in Earth famous now for Magic with Obsidian you will need to play Slipspawn to mitigate some of that magic attack.
Overall Score 9/10.

Synergy with Obsidian...Not great, however with Mylor...Very nice, though that does come at a cost and keeping with the rest of the series were only sticking to playable summoners, so its Obsidian or Eastwood. Best choice here is Eastwood your remove -2 Armour from the opposition which is actually good when it comes to Grund as his high attack can get to the core and not be mitigated by pesky armour. Though as mentioned best would be something which like Mylor which would give Grund either more protection or more output so a x1 Melee...
Overall Score 6/10.

Currently the cost is at $4.35 per BCX / 1.3M DEC - MAX Copy $200 / 59.8M DEC, So in costing terms its not the cheapest card but also its not out of reach especially at level 1. Also if you look at the history of the BCX of this card, if you can pick some up now your getting a real steal.

Like I said at the beginning you could say, job done Grund is king of Earth EPIC cards and your not far off. The card has a lot of Utility, Synergy is decent and Cost currently is very enticing so that validates the overall score. Long term this card is only going to get better in my opinion so now’s the time to jump on this.

Sporcerer

Hard to really talk about this card as I haven’t got one at the moment, that being said I have come up against it many times and each time its meant im on the loosing side...
Its a very powerful EPIC card made even better by Obsidian which we will get onto. But at Level 1 it gets, 2x Magic, 1x Speed, x5 HP and Rust meaning Armour will be reduced. Now take it to MAX and your at 3x Magic, 2x Speed, x6 HP and Rust, Silence meaning opposition Magic is reduced and Affliction meaning opposition cant heal. A mighty card indeed and one I am going to pick up! Obviously the only downfall is its speed and low HP which does mean like Grund to get the best use of the card you do need a card which will be somewhat sacrificed so this can survive and again you could use a Taunt card.
Overall Score 8/10.

Synergy with Obsidian is OP for this card +1 Magic at level 1 making it x3 Magic attack! Whats not to love! There really isnt much else to say this card synergy is perfect!

Currently the cost is at $10.50 per BCX / 3.1M DEC - MAX Copy $482 / 142.6M DEC, So in costing terms yesss its an expensive card...maybe too expensive which is a shame as I do love the Utility and Synergy for this card but that price id be only comfortable picking up a Level 1, if I could get Level 4 to get that Silence that would be great but that would be $200 so I dont think so!

Like I said at the beginning hard card to review as personally never used it but have only heard and seen great things, its let down by the cost for us newer players but then thats what we want from this game inflation on assets so whilst the newer player cant maybe get in on this great card there will be just as good cards in Chaos Legion now at a steal which a year maybe two years down line will x10 like this one. So my opinion overall is this card is OP, yes pricey but Id still be looking to pick up a Level 1 for its Utility, Synergy

Hunter Jarx

I Like this card, I did from the moment I saw it 3x Range, 2x Speed, x6 HP and Snipe at Level 1 thats pretty good. Now take it to MAX and your at 5x Range, 2x Speed, x8 HP and Snipe and True Strike meaning you wont miss! all that power and it will hit every time! Obviously the only downfall is magic and the fact that it cant shoot from the first position which is always a bonus with range attack monsters. so again you could use a Taunt card to mitigate that.
Overall Score 7/10.

Synergy with Obsidian not the one nor does Eastwood really help this card other than maybe the -2 to armour would mean it could get to work with that ranged attack sooner but really for great synergy we would like to see something like increased range or even Poison like the NEW Waka card!! Dream land I know...

Currently the cost is at $1 per BCX / 304 DEC - MAX Copy $46 / 14k DEC, So in costing terms its a cheap one! So costing isnt the issue on this one! Plus as your see below unlike the others its never really been expensive we would need to see some better Synergy and then this price would be reflected in that but at current it warrants its lower price tag.
Overall Score 7/10.

Like I said at the beginning I like this card I just wish it had better Synergy its one of them all round decent cards that you could slot in to your deck but how often would you pick it over a card which Synergise better....hard one! At its price though I would advise to pick up a couple, maybe not go all in and MAX it out because we just don’t know what the future Summoners will be at this stage so your money could be better invested.

Overall:

Earth is a fun deck! you have alot of variations and card which synergise better than others. My obvious pick is Grund for the Cost, Utility yes its not the best in Synergy but im willing to gamble with this one that maybe we see something down the road which could make this card one day sky rocket to the moon!
