Modern EPIC Monsters You Need! - Part 5

In this post I want to spend a short time talking about the DEATH deck and Modern must own monsters, specifically EPIC.

This is part 5 of a 7 part mini series where I delve into what I believe is the best EPIC Modern mosters to own, looking at both Utility, Synergy and Cost.

Shadowy Presence

Shadowy Presence a card I haven’t had any experience with both using or playing so its a hard one to talk about, but from a statistical point of view, 1 Mana so will fit into near all matches, Level 1 1x Speed and 4x HP so really nothing but a meat shield. However rank the card up and this is when it becomes a useful card. MAX Level 1x Speed and 6x HP with Strengthen and Inspire So meaning you will be pumping your teams HP by 1 and Melle by 1, but for that it will require 46 copies...
So at Level 1 as mentioned it doesn’t offer a great deal of Utility and that’s what we rate on.
Overall Score 4/10.

Synergy with Thaddius Brood...Not the best, Nor with Contessa so not a great deal to speak about on this one. For this card you'd need something like +1 Armour to help its meat shield status last longer.

Currently the cost is at $7.74 per BCX / 2.4K DEC - MAX Copy $356 / 110K DEC, So in costing terms its not the cheapest card, that’s because it has been around for a while now so its an established card and so its rare! As mentioned above this card is really only useful at MAX Level so would you invest $356...

For me its a No, The cost, Synergy and Utility for me there’s better cards now at Level 1 like the Fiends and at 0 Mana cost! This is why its thrown out the lowest rating since we started this series.

Magi Necrosi

I personally love this card, I think its one of the best Utility cards released for Chaos Legion, Especially in the Death deck. Level 1 2x Magic, 4x Speed and 4x HP with Snipe and Camouflage thats a whole lot of support at level 1. MAX Level 3x Magic, 4x Speed and 6x HP with Snipe, Camouflage, Opress and Stun. Whilst its Mana is getting up on the higher side you cant argue that this card offers max Utility and even at Level 1.
Overall Score 9/10.

Synergy with Thaddius Brood isnt the ideal match but its not the worst either, by Thaddius reducing HP by 1 and Magi Necros using Magic it will help reduce the opposition quicker. Ideal would be a Magic +1 boost which I could see from the NEW Legendarys. But based on current summoners is what we base the score on.
Overall Score 5/10.

Currently the cost is at $2.10 per BCX / 663 DEC - MAX Copy $97 / 30K DEC, So in costing terms its more than affordable, You even need to consider a MAX level with all that Utility you get for your money especially when you see from where the pricing has been its currently a real deal.
Overall Score 8/10.

The cost, Synergy and Utility for me its a must buy! I dont say this often but at this price and for what you will be getting id advise just going all in and getting a MAX copy. Only let down by the current Synergy but I feel a +1 Magic is due!

Weirding Warrior

Its a card I have and I do throw it in now and again as its only 2 Mana but really never thought about levelling up. Level 1 1x Ranged, 2x Speed and 2x HP with Shatter meaning if this card hits an opposition card with Armour it will remove this helping out the entire team going forward. MAX level 2x Ranges, 2x Speed and 3x HP with Shatter, Amplify and Rust So whilst this is a weak card even at level MAX it does offer some support to the rest of the team by Amplify and Rust! For me I can think of better cards and even at 2 Mana I would personally rather have a Fiend taking that spot!
Overall Score 4/10.

Synergy with Thaddius Brood...Not the best, Nor with ContessaSo again its not a great card to match off with Summoners, really for this card to have better Synergy it would need to be in Life deck with Sloan. The only benefit is as mentioned above Thaddius reduces the opposition HP by 1, So less for this card to get down.

Currently the cost is at $1.88 per BCX / 593 DEC - MAX Copy $83 / 27K DEC, So in costing terms its more expensive than I would have imagined. For that cost you could almost get the MAX copy of Magi Necrosi you have to think which is better for you! For me it would be Magi Necrosi. That being said I would pick up 1 copy for that 2 Mana cost monster.
Overall Score 5/10.

The cost, Synergy and Utility for me its not one Id stack up on! Like say Id would pick up one copy! But id use that funds to spread the cost elsewhere like on Magi Necrosi.

Overall:

For me its a no brainer, Magi Necrosi for all 3 point and also the possibility of getting better with better Synergy down the line. Its Cost right now is a steal so make sure you pick up a few copies before this card rises again!
