Modern EPIC Monsters You Need! - Part 6
In this post I want to spend a short time talking about the NEUTRAL deck and Modern must own monsters, specifically EPIC.
This is part 6 of a 7 part mini series where I delve into what I believe is the best EPIC Modern mosters to own, looking at both Utility, Synergy and Cost.
Uraeus
Uraeus a really nice underrated and under used card by myself, I’m guilty of missing this one but by doing this research its helped me see the true potential of this card.
Like all the monsters in this review they differ from the others reviewed before because they can be played in all decks thanks to being Neutral so that in itself needs to be added to the overall Utility.
This card though is really nice, Level 1 gets 1x Melee, 2x Speed, 1x Armour and 2x HP with Sneak. So whilst its not a card that will do a whole lot of damage nor take multiple hits, at 3 mana its a good card to throw in for 1 round and chance the luck! obviously these stats aren’t boosted by any summoner, when you start to play out scenarios like Tarsa +1 Melee and +1 HP or Keyla with +1 Armour and +1 Speed this can really make a massive difference to a card like this.
MAX Level gets 3x Melee, 4x Speed, 1x Armour and 4x HP with Sneak and Poison That MAX level card is really nice and very powerful but will require 46 copies.
Overall Score 7/10.
Synergy With Tarsa would be best, +1 HP and +1 Melle making it more powerful and more resilient to attacks! Though you could pair this with Keyla and the Synergy would be just as good.
Overall Score 10/10.
Currently the cost is at $0.55 per BCX / 167 DEC - MAX Copy $25 / 7.7K DEC, So in costing terms its a decent price especially when you think about the Synergy, you can use this card in any deck, You would ideally want a MAX copy but for $25 its really worth it.
Overall Score 9/10.
For me its 100% Yes, The Cost, Synergy and Utility for me you cant go wrong with having this card there to support and at 3 Mana cost you can get a great card without weakening the rest of your deck.

Magi of Chaos
Magi of Chaos or MOC as I will refer to him as, another really nice card, however this card I have used quite a bit seeing as I regularly choose Magic. Level 1 gets 2x Magic, 2x Speed and 5x HP so right off the bat an amazing card, Yes it has no additional abilities at level 1 but x2 Magic and a decent HP will mean its will dish out damage and last a few rounds at least.
MAX Level gets 4x Magic, 2x Speed and 7x HP with Oppress So MAX level gets some really nice Magic and HP and now you get an ability which is Meh...Its more about that Magic damage!
Overall Score 8/10.
Synergy With Obsidian is the way to go here, get that +1 Magic giving it a further boost and would mean at MAX level it would do x5 Magic per round...crazy! but even at level 1 it would do x3 Magic so nothing to snub! You could pair this with Keyla for a little more survivability but it would be situational.
Overall Score 10/10.
Currently the cost is at $1.61 per BCX / 485 DEC - MAX Copy $74 / 22K DEC, So in costing terms its slightly more expensive but really you would only need a level 4 as 1 extra Magic at MAX level and Oppress really isnt worth the extra cost. A level 4 would cost you $32 per BCX / 9K DEC So really not too expensive.
Overall Score 7/10.
Unfortunately I cannot bring you the Splinterstats table for this monster as the website wasn’t working at the time of capture.
For me I would certainly pick up a level 1 and if you could afford it bump that to a level 4, You don’t need a MAX level in this card save the funds a put that into Uraeus.
Overall Score of 25/30.
Gem Meteor
Gem Meteor its an ok card, the best thing about this card for me is the artwork! Which is not why you should invest in any card! The reason im not a big fan of this card is its low attack, low health and Scatter Shot! So Level 1 gets 1x Ranged, 4x Speed and 5x HP and Scatter Shot. MAX Level gets 4x Ranged, 5x Speed and 5x HP, Scatter Shot and Piercing Reason I don’t like Scatter Shot is its too unpredictable which I realise is the point of Scatter Shot, Really you want this card at MAX Level so you get that 4x Ranged you have Scatter and Piercing meaning you can get right through any armour and put that damaged to work straight away. However at Level 1, its not for me.
Overall Score 6/10.
Synergy With Sloan would be best, +1 Ranged meaning at MAX level you would be dealing x5 Ranged attack and even at Level 1 you'd get x2. Past that Synergy wise there really isn’t anyone else currently.

Currently the cost is at $0.90 per BCX / 271 DEC - MAX Copy $41 / 12K DEC, So in costing terms its slightly cheaper than MOC but more than Uraeus. But as mentioned you'd really want a MAX level so would you really want to pay out $41 for this card... For me I wouldn’t personally.

If it was my money I wouldn’t personally invest in this card. I think you could do so much more and ive given you 2 other much better options above.

Overall:
For me id get a MAX level Uraeus and a Level 4 MOC which would cost $57 for that you would get some insane stats and abilities not to mention the possible Utility and Synergy with not only Summoners but other monsters. Stay clear of Gem Meteor as it just doesn’t offer enough for me to promote.
