My BATTLE MAGE SECRET Weekly Challenge! Little League
Hello there, this is my entry to the latest "Battle Mage Secret Weekly Challenge!". If you want to participate or learn more about the challenge, click here. This week we must formulate a strategy with the Little League ruleset.
RULESET: Little League
With the Little League ruleset in action, only units and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.
Little League is a simple ruleset to understand as only units and summoners with 4 mana or less can be used in the lineup. This rules out a lot of units in your lineup and makes it very restrictive and challenging to make a good composition, especially if there is a limited no of elements available.
My Lineup
This is my lineup for the battle
It was just a 19-mana cap brawl battle and had the following ruleset:
- Broken Arrows - Ranged attack monsters may not be used in battles.
- Little League - Only monsters and summoners that cost 4 mana or less may be used in battles.
- Rise of the Commons - Only commons and Rare monsters may be used in battles.
All elements, except Earth and Life, were active during this battle which made it even tougher to form a good lineup. I went with Keyla Frendul
so I would get extra armour which is effective in very low mana cap battles.
I placed Chaos Bear Guard in the first position as my tank. It is a stretch to call it a tank but at least it had the 'Shield' ability which reduces the attack it takes from ranged and melee attackers. In terms of its attack, it was doing just one melee attack damage with slow speed so I didn't expect it to destroy the opponents completely or something like this but it was there to provide some stability to this challenging ruleset and battle conditions.
Pirator of Eight was my second unit in the lineup. It costs 4 mana and deals 1 melee attack damage as well. But it comes with good abilities. Its 'Blast' make it a lethal attacker and can change the fate of the game easily. It can be used in the second position because it comes with Reach ability. The only drawback was its relatively low health.
Next in my lineup was Chaos Agent. It was just a one mana cost unit and I had to utilize every spot in this low mana battle and that's why I used it here. I could have also used it at the end of the lineup to absorb attacks from sneaky units. But I didn't expect much from this unit.
But my Chaso Agent would get attacking powers because of the 'Weapon Training' ability of the Moxian Rebel which I placed in the next position. It costs just 4 mana so I could use it in this little league ruleset as well. Having magic attack damage is very effective for this as the adjacent non-attacking cards will also get the magic attack damage which is very powerful in this type of battle.
Last but not least was the Merdaali Guardian. I wanted to use a healing unit that can make my tank last even longer so I used this and with the weapon training it received it got more useful in this battle. It only costs 3 mana so I could easily use it in my lineup. And the best part is it will get magic attack power as well.
Now that my lineup was set, it was time for battle.
I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.
My Strategy
It was quite a challenging ruleset and with battle constraints like two active elements and a low mana cap with Little League, it became tough to come up with a good plan. But I had a good idea as I used the Keyla Frendul as my summoner which gave extra armour and increased the speed of all the friendly units by 1. Speed and armour in low mana cap battles are so vital and can determine the fate of the battle.
Moxian Rebel played a huge role in this lineup and gave magic attacks to both of its adjacent units which was a big buff in this low cap battle.
This strategy, as you will see, worked in my favour and gave me a comfortable win at the end.
My opponent went with an interesting strategy. They used a dual element summoner Dolfar Darflak which is both Death and Fire summoner. They used the Krash Wanderford as their tank which has increased speed and is effective against melee attackers but my focus was more on magic damage.
They also used the Moxian Rebel but didn't utilize it to its full potential.
Round 1 was not filled with a lot of action and none of the units got eliminated but their tank got much weaker and got eliminated early in the next round.
My tank got healed back up to full health at the start of round 3 and my opponent had the worst round as their units fell like a house of cards, one after the other while my units were all standing and mostly in full health.
I had a much better defensive lineup with my summoner giving extra armour to all my units and a healer to heal up my tank.
I had better defense and offense which overwhelmed my opponent's lineup in just a few rounds and registered an easy win. The difference was made by how we both utilised the Moxian Rebel.
Conclusion
Little League is an interesting lineup. Depending on other factors in the battle, it can become quite challenging. As you can see in the above battle, it was just a 19 mana cap battle with just two active elements and this restricts the number of available units you are left with.
But like any other ruleset. You should look at what you have available and try to lean back to the fundamentals of the game as they will help you in these tight situations. I used a good enough tank and gave all my units extra armour and speed. Used a healer to support my unit at the front of the lineup and hoped that it would work out. And it worked out perfectly.
Let me know what's your strategies to deal with this ruleset.

Does your water team is the strongest in the collection, considering the higher number of max out warriors?
