Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Mylor Crowling is the best Earth summoner !?

Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!". If you want to participate and or read more about the challenge, click here.

I have been testing some new monster cards for a few days now and that path has led me to try out summoners as well. With so many summoners to choose from, one, in particular, caught my eye, the Mylor Crowling. One of my favourite summoners at my level.

Mylor Crowling is a rare earth summoner, costing only 3 mana and gives thorns ability to all the friendly monsters. It works well with monsters with good health and is a perfect summoner against melee-centric attacks.

While costing only 3 mana, it proves to be super useful in low and mid-mana costing battles. It generally performs well with higher mana costs as well. But one needs to be careful against heavy magic attacks.

Let's see how I have used it in my battles and gives you a good composition as well.

Battle 1

My Lineup

Position 5
Parasitic Growth
Opportunity
Position 6

This was a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset. It was a 30-man cap battle and I had complete freedom to create my composition as I like. I chose the Mylor Crowling as my summoner, of course. It gave all the friendly monsters the ability of thorns.

I used the Unicorn Mustang as my tank in this battle as it has both offensive and defensive capabilities with a massive 10 hp health and 3 melee damage on its own. My lineup relied heavily on it.

Next, I used the Regal Peryton. It was the only mage in my lineup. It has quick attack and comes with flying ability making it harder to attack. It was a nice addition to my lineup.

Next came the Goblin Theif, Venari Scout and **Parasitic Growth. All these had either sneak or opportunity abilities that help in adding a surprise element to the lineup. They quickly eliminate weaker monsters that tend to be placed at the end of the lineup. They complement each other very well during the battle.

At last, I used Child of the Forest, it was the only ranged monster in my lineup. It comes at a low cost and also has good speed (5). Its snipe ability also helped take down monsters from the second position onwards from the opponent's camp.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

This was also a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset. It was a 22-mana cap battle unlike the last one, I had a little less mana to play with. Of course, my summoner was the Mylor Crowling. You got to love its ability to give thorns to all friendly monsters.

Unicorn Mustang is one of the best tanks in the game. It excels in attacking (with 3 melee attacks) as well as defending (with 10 hp and 4 speed). Its massive health complements well with the thorns ability from the summoner.

In the second and third positions, I placed Goblin Thief and Venari Scout respectively. They work well in tandem utilizing sneak and opportunity abilities and attacking the weaker monster from the back of the enemy lineups.

At the last, I used the Elevn Mystic, the only mage used in this battle. It helped and added extra firepower to my lineup.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

Conclusion

I might be biased here when I say Mylor Crowling is the best Earth Summoner but one needs to understand the power of the thorns ability applied to all the friendly monsters, especially in the mid-high mana cap battles. It becomes deadly against melee-centric battles and the opponent will have no escape from the thorn damage if they choose to use melee-centric lineup.

It works well when you have a beefy unit as your monster as attacking it will deal back damage to monsters and will become a great defensive and offensive unit.

One of the downsides of using it is against all mages or ranged monsters as they will receive no damage back and the summoner will effectively be a waste of mana. But most players like to use melee monsters, especially on my level. So, no complaints here.
