Starting Splinterlands as a New Player 10/24/2021

As a new player to Splinterlands, I want to chronicle my daily progress for anyone else looking to get started and potentially earn a little a long the way.

Day 1:

Bought Spellbook: $10

Current Balances:
0 - Credits
0 - DEC
0 - SPS

Total Money Spent: $10
Total Account Value: $0
Total Profit/Loss: -$10

Goal(s) for the Day:

  1. Complete Daily Quest (Water) for rewards.
  2. Get to Bronze 3

Open to any advice and feedback anyone is willing to provide.

Thank You!

At this point in the game you'll need to invest in some DEC, it will let you participate in airdrops and rent your way to silver/gold, you could try some free decks, but don't expect that $10 investment turn into a thousand over night, DEC is pretty cheap right now and airdrops will give you a quick ROI.

Any suggestions on what cards are the best to rent right now for the value?
Hoping to boot strap my account as much as possible, at least in the short term.

I'm definitely not expecting to get thousands overnight.
I'm well aware that #playtoearn is just as much #paytoearn.
I've seen several posts expressing distaste for this, but nothing in life is free and everything takes some sort of investment.
You always scale faster with a larger investment, whatever that investment may be.

I appreciate your comment and time to help me improve!

I started renting Mylor Crowling, the Thorns ability is devastating at Bronze, it's currently 13 DEC a day, but that should get you pretty quickly to Silver where you can earn actual DEC. But yeah, they nerfed bronze so much because people were exploiting it, that was bad for the game.
