A Battle With My Least Favorite Type of Goblin

Goblins are everywhere in the Splinterlands. I have heard that although they are small, they are numerous. It's actually really interesting and adds to the lore. Let's see, there's the goblin chef, goblin thief, sorcerer, the firemage, and does the hobgoblin count? Let's also not forget about their vehicles like the chariot and mech! However, none of these goblins are important this week. The only one that matters, and possibly the highest ranking one, is the goblin shaman.

This was one of the first few alpha cards I got. Since it does not have an attack, it was always overlooked and barely used. Like I've said in previous challenges, I didn't really know about the upgrade mechanic early on. So my copy of this card remains at level 1, which is unfortunate because some magic attack would be very helpful.

When this week's prompt for the battle challenge was released, I immediately knew when I could use this card. I would use it during an earthquake battle or, better yet, a battle in which everyone is poisoned because armor will be of no help. That way, with the weakened ability, the enemy will have even less health and will likely not last many rounds.

I almost picked the Molten Ogre as the tank for his high health and enemy attack debuff. However, I was one mana short so instead I chose the Charlok Minotaur. He has higher attack anyway. Next, I summoned the Serpentine Spy; he is a staple in my fire build due to his low mana to attack ratio. Next, our star, the shaman. He stays in the middle where there is most protection, unless there be snipers. To add insult to injury, I've included the Lord of Fire. The enemy's health will be sabotaged while our own will be fortified, thanks to him! And of course a Furious Chicken in the back for a little protection.

I did not anticipate going against a legendary summoner. The shaman's ability was cancelled out due to the scarred llama's +2 buff. The poison status was removed as well. I might have still had a chance if it weren't for the last stand ability. Who knows, the healing on that last enemy monster probably would have gotten me anyway.

I probably would have lost even had I chosen a completely different build and splinter. But it just goes to show you how having a monster with no attack in a limited mana battle can be a big waste. Magic would be better but it still wouldn't have helped in this battle. If my card were level 3, sure I'd probably use it a little. But it's still not one of my favorite cards. Will I ever get rid of it? For the right price, but probably not.

Happy battling!

P.S. I've never noticed the shaman's nasty big toenails!

Lol, nice write-up, I hadn't even checked the theme for this week's battle challenge. Like you, I dislike No-Attack Monsters. I think I'd use the Shaman guy only with the Dragon Splinter going against(NOT Magic ofc) and keep him at the back.
