Greetings, ye battlemages! Are you ready to witness a glorious battle to the death?
Who will prevail?

Strategy

  1. My go-to tank for the Earth Splinter is usually the Flesh Golem but he does better in low mana battles in my opinion, plus this was the Odd Ones Out ruleset so I went with my second favorite Earth tank, the Nectar Queen. With the flying ability, decent speed, and good health she was the obvious choice.

  2. The only level 1 monster on my team is the Orc Sergeant. I just threw him in beverage of his reach ability of course but also because he has decent health and will act as a meat shield to buy me some time should my tank die.

  3. I had to include my Sand Worm because who doesn't in a high mana battle? I leveled up my regular foil version so now that's the default card in my deck builder instead of the gold foil version. What's better: higher attack or +10% DEC?

  4. I almost always use my Gold Screeching Vulture when I'm playing the Earth Splinter. It's one of my favorite cards. His opportunistic 2 attack goes a long way.

  5. And finally, the star of the show, the Centauri Mage. I placed her as the first ranged attacker, anticipating that my enemy was going to have some sniping monsters that my mage could return fire to, but the battle turned out to be quite different.

  6. I put the Mushroom Seer last in order to protect the Centauri Mage from sneak attacks and to minimize magic damage to my tank.

Battle!

At first, the battle was going well. Although I did lose my Mushroom Seer due to my opponent's 2 sneaky monsters. Then, seemingly in the blink of an eye, all my melee attackers were decimated! The vulture didn't even get a chance to dispatch the Goblin Chariot when it too was forced to the front lines. His death was not in vain. Finally, I was down to my last monster, our very own Centauri Mage! I'm glad we actually got to see her use that 'return fire' ability against that pesky Goblin Chariot! If it weren't for her high health and magic attack of 2, I would not have survived.

How did you enjoy this battle of epic proportions? Did you know I was going to win from the get-go? I must admit even I doubted myself for a while. I was originally planning to pair the Centauri Mage with her neutral brethren the Centaur but could not since that is an even card.
I like the Centauri Mage. I think I use her in battle more often than not, especially ever since I leveled her up to get the magic attack of 2 . She's not very cost-effective with the lower attack.

And there you have it. A victorious battle using the Centauri Mage. I would have posted this same battle even had I lost. Losing makes for a great story, too.
Well, thanks for visiting!
Until the next battle challenge!
