Hello, my name is Flux and I'm a video game addict. Wait, no, I'm a play2earn enthusiast.
I spend a lot of time in my room playing video games -- but I like to think of it differently. In my 2030 mindset, I'm an early stage investor in the blockchain video game industry.
It happened by mistake, with me putting $14 into Splinterlands and starting to stream some Lost Relics on the side.
Somehow out of those two decisions, and too much free time -- rather, lots of diligent research in the cutting edge space of play2earn -- I found myself grinding up some rewards and making a lot of friends. One thing led to another, and I found myself with well beyond a thousand dollars in my play2earn portfolio.
One thing that never happened to me in my pre-crypto days -- accidentally starting an investment portfolio? Hey, it happened.
Why I Spend 10+ Hours a Day on Play2Earn
After a pandemic, the 2020 American cultural implosion around the presidential election, and my own personal lack of career prospects or skills, I found myself sucked in deeper and deeper into the play2earn space.
I'm still in here. Haven't pulled myself out. Think I'll just keep playing 2 earn, I like it. More importantly, I am viewing this as a serious career path.
If it was 2013, I could begin a career as a live streamer in video games. It would be the perfect time. Most of the biggest names on Twitch and elsewhere now got started in those wild-west early days where nobody was seen as a legitimate professional, it was just chaos and passion.
In 2021 and the upcoming 2022, I think play2earn is that world for gamers. Those of us ridiculous people spending all day playing, researching, investing, debating, and generally getting into shenanigans around play2earn games will probably comprise the "OG" community in 5-10 years.
There are already OGs -- super OGs, people I learn from -- but realistically, it's so early that it's beyond early.
Play2earn puts us on the cutting edge of the cutting edge. I guess that's called the Bleeding Edge? Whatever it is, the play2earn movement & its cousin, the metaverse movement, is the most interesting and wildly evolving space of crypto right now.
So I am super passionate about this space. I easily spend 10+ hours a day on play2earn, especially after cutting back my streaming schedule to free up time for more productive work.
What I'm Playing Now
My favorite games right now, the ones I am currently grinding and playing actively, are the following: Lost Relics, Splinterlands, Axie Infinity, Million on Mars, and MIR4.
In fact I have three of those games open right now even as I'm typing this. I am out of control.
Needless to say there will be a lot of play2earn content from me going forward on this tag. I am grateful to @flauwy and everybody else involved in getting this sub-community started. It is exactly what I've been looking for on Hive, somewhere to talk specifically about games that feature cryptocurrency in the design.

Great post! I normally play axie infinity/dcity/splinterlands/r planet on a daily basis.
You mentioned a few I never heard of. I'll have to check them out.

Do you pay for the 60$ 90day pass or have a full member pass? Trying to see if the 90 day pass is worth it
I got a 30 day pass right now but I've also grinded a lot without a pass. The pass isn't going to help you make tons of money or anything, idk if it's profitable, but it is reasonable value and definitely unlocks a lot of in-game content. It's worth it in that sense

I still haven't dedicated myself to games in crypto, but for lack of time and my will as well. Now, I'm going to use this tribe to put myself in the game again!
It's a big jump to go from regular games to crypto games. I've been resisting it for months, but as time goes on, I have to admit, it's hard to find time for games that don't have cryptocurrency in them anymore. I think I might be on the path to becoming a play2earn maximalist :-P
