How to Run a Free Splinterlands Bot

There seems to be a lot of confusion over what bots can and can't do in the game.
Since setting one up isn't entirely intuitive if you're not a developer, I wanted to create a quick walkthrough of how to set one up for free and what this looks like.
Bots won't guarantee you free wins or get you around participating in the game's economy but they will provide a way to play the game long after you've gotten burned out from the grind.
