RW Changes and my Buylist

INTRO

It's been so long since I last blogged and I sure feel bad as I kind of wanted to create a guide for all the different Chaos Legion + Reward Splinters...
This makes the guides kind of irrelevant now with the new Rift Watchers coming out.
I have just recently started University which made it really hard to commit to blogging due to new commitments.

I am really tempted to go through all the card lists which is what made me take some time off my studies to blog again however, I am sure that there are many other people who have written about this new mini-set release!

So, instead of a LONG post going through every single card in detail, I'll be going through the stat changes in the past few days and share my personal shopping list for this set!

Card Stat Changes

  1. Lichen Beast
    image.png
    Reduced speed by 1
    Replaced PHASE with Knockout

A very big change here as you can't play for Dodges as well, Lichen Beast would no longer be able to dodge Magic Attacks without the Phase Ability... (Unless paired with Stispa).

  2. Runemancer Flore
    image.png
    Increased speed by 2

  3. Lemell Refugee
    image.png
    Reduced speed by 2

  4. Sea Stalker
    image.png
    Replaced Headwinds with Amplify
Can be seen as a debuff as there are less Thorn, Magic Reflect and Return-Fire Monsters in the Water Splinter (At least in Bronze & Silver where I mainly play), the Headwind would have helped to fight off Yodin, General Sloan and Fernheart Summoners.

  5. Runemancer Kye
    image.png
    Increased cost to 11
    Increased speed by 1
    Replaced Amplify with Fury

Loving this change of Ability! Can't wait to try out Fury, when you can deal 2x more damage to Taunt Monsters.

  6. Night Ghoul
    image.png
    Replaced Enrage with Taunt
The change of ability here is less appealing to me as I love Enraged, however, it pairs really well with Forcefield that it gains on Lvl 6. (Kinda reminds me of Mycelic Slipspawn from the Earth Chaos Legion Edition)

  7. Septic Slime
    image.png
    Replaced Snare with True Strike

  8. Tinderlock
    image.png
    Reduced speed by 2

  9. Rune Crafter
    image.png
    Increased armor by 1

  10. Scavo Technomancer
    image.png
    Replaced Shatter with Rust
Personally feel that Rust is a way better ability as it removes 2 armor from all monsters, instead of just destroying one monster's. Shatter would be great on a monster with loads of armor, but removing armor from the back row will help clear the opponent's board better.

Shopping List

This list is made based on my personal collection and by no means financial advise!
I generally play in Silver 1 and Gold 2 leagues so take it into consideration if you are looking to follow my list 😄

CardReason
Mordeus (Fire Legendary Monster)Opportunity is my favourite ability in the game, the fact that this beast has as much attack as the Sandworm is insane and I can't wait to pair it with Jacek for the sweet speed boost and Piercing Ability
Tinderlock (Fire Rare Monster)Would make an incredible Sneak Tank and if it lasts till the end, it will gain Last-Stand. I really need more strong Range / Magic Monsters to pair with Jacek.
Runemancer Kye (Water Legendary Monster)Incredible survivability in general especially with flying as protection against Earthquake (as well as dodge boost) along with life leech to increase her own health in the long run!
Fernheart (Earth Epic Summoner)Having quite a few strong and high DPS Range monsters in my collection such as Mitica Headhunter and Goblin Tower makes the Close-Range ability this card provides, very tempting! Not to mention, this card makes the current reward cards Venari Seedsmith and Vampiric Blossom so much more playable and viable!
Uloth Dhampir (Earth Rare monster)Speaking of incredible pairing, this card is a perfect fit, its high health allows it to be a great tank (not that I would put him at the front), plus the big DPS and stun ability is an incredible asset, especially in the Heavyhitter ruleset.
Runemancer Florre (Earth Legendary Monster)An absolute beast of a monster and a must-have for me. This card pairs so well with Fernheart its incredible. It can also go with Obsidian!
Arachne Thug (Death Common Monster)I used to play either The Golodon (High DPS and tanky but really slow plus expensive) or the Shadow Snitch (Cheaper but weaker in Damage output and health) as my secondary tank with Reach. This monster should solve and help me win more matches with the Death splinter as a nice in-between of the 2 different spectrums.
Cabalist (Death Rare Monster)Nice Magic attack and hope to make full use of its Amplify ability with my Cursed Windeku.
Dallan (Death Epic Summoner)Most Death Summoners has been a miss for me as I really dislike debuffs and would prefer buffs. Debuffs feel more like a gamble as it bets on whether the opponent will play in a way that your debuff will affect while buffs are more of a certainty (basing off of your lineup) Cripple is a nice ability to give to your monsters when fighting in big mana rulesets, it really helps to deter healing which is a real pain when most monsters in that ruleset have high health.
Stispa (Dragon Epic Summoner)An absolute priority and must-have for me. I have always had a hard time with Dragon summoners as I always miss the opportunity to get them at a rate I'd like. I have been having a hard time progressing in leagues due to level issues. A nice dragon summoner at a good level will provide me with a better array of monster choices in the long run since it can be paired with any other splinters.
Coeurl Lurker (Neutral Legendary Monster)A card that I really need. Taunt is an incredible ability to use as it forces your opponent to target it only and allow your glass cannons to survive way longer. Its high speed and Dodge ability is such a good stat to have. Not to mention, with my favourite Kelya summoner, it survives way longer with an armor, or give it flying with my Brighton Bloom and even comboing it with Stispa with phase to dodge magic!

CONCLUSION

Alright, we have come to the end of the post...
I did say that I am trying to keep it short as there are already some in-depth reviews of these so I tried to be as brief and explanatory as possible in my shopping list choices!

What are your thoughts? Which card is your chase in this set?
Please let me know 😄
