Blogging, Trading, Gaming— My 2022 on Hive in Review

2022 so far has favoured me in so many ways, yet, there are things I am salty about. Not that the memories are intrusive but because the laggard version of myself has failed miserably to work in tandem.

As usual, the whole year, as I can remember in quick flashbacks, there were plans to follow— a lot of them. But at the end of the year, when I am opening the ledger of achievement, I can confidently rule out that my plans have barely seen the light.

Quite frustrating, that’s the verdict unless I shed light on the experiences I have gathered, friends I have made, joyous moments I have spent, and lessons I have learned.

However, recapping the whole year in a bite-sized post won’t make sense. Neither is it possible. So, a few things highlighting my Hive-life would be a better fit and as a bonus, it will stay here forever so that I can reflect on it later.

So, let’s start with Blogging

What should I say, blogging on Hive has been the thing I have enjoyed the most along with the friends I have made during the process. Starting back in 2020, I must confess I have made very insignificant progress, mostly for my ignorance, but I am glad that I am finally back on track after a long break.

Blogging has helped in many ways— from improving my expressions to helping me stay away from frequent depression, writing has been therapeutic to me; clearing out the gloomy sky of disappointment, dissatisfaction, and despair.

On top of that, finding myself among the #Turni authors has been the most prestigious thing I have achieved so far on Hive. Being able to contribute to this weekly magazine is a dream come true for me. I am honoured to have this role, literally.

Another achievement worth mentioning is my account’s growth over time. Constantly writing on topics I love has helped me scale it to 3000 HP— a significant rise from merely 400is HP when I resumed blogging back in early February this year.

Not all of them are earned through writing but accumulating Hive as I go and occasionally powering up has made it possible. While I look forward to staking at least 10K HP by the end of 2023, I will definitely take other layer 2 tokens into consideration as well; i.e. #Leo, #Cine, #SPS etc.

Not so good at Trading

Entering the crypto world wasn’t possible unless I had a few well-wishers whom I consider the best blessing outside my family. It is their inspiration and constant guidance that helped me clear out tons of confusion regarding this chaotic world. I wish I could follow in their footsteps without interruptions. But it is as it is— and I am blessed to take advantage of their wisdom whenever I need some.

Although I am not good at trading, I tried. Signing up for #Binance and dealing with a few coins and finally increasing my tiny portfolio seems to be another achievement I can brag about. But trading requires vast subject knowledge and this is where I am in backfoot.

I planned to learn a few things but ended up being swamped with other tasks. So, the progress halted even before it went into full swing and unfortunately, I have to keep it for 2023.

Gaming— my worst nightmare

Talking about #blockchain gaming, especially from the Hive ecosystem, #Splinterlands comes first. Many of us have made our fortune playing this game and countless are doing the same even to this date, even during this bear season.

I tried my luck but ended up being frustrated as so many cards and their abilities followed by the internal mechanisms seemed to be so much for me. But I am still associated with the game in different ways. I invested in SPS back when it was around 10 cents. I hoped to make some decent profits as the price was rising gradually but shortly after I released my fund, the price started dropping and now you know the situation.

I must say I am a little bit uncomfortable with the price at this moment but I strongly believe it will rise during the next bull run. Don’t ask me when the bull will awake but I have a feeling if Splinterlands somehow survive the crash, SPS will have attractive utility, making the price back on foot. Let’s see what happens.

On a side note, I am willing to wait another 2-3 years before touching my SPS stake.

To recap

#Crypto moves in its own way. Either you blend in or get drifted away. I have seen both of its faces. When I entered the realm, it was the beginning of the bull run, so, I have seen the golden days. But later I had to pause for some unavoidable situation that halted my progress. Only if I would continue, the situation could be otherwise at this moment.

Now that we are amidst bear season, many of us will feel dejected. But rest assured, you will have the last smile if you can manage to survive the odds and continue focusing on your growth on #Hive.
