Patience, Practice, Persistence
The pathway to success in Splinterlands can pretty much be defined through the abovementioned three words. As a motivated observer of this wonderful P2E game, I have come to this realisation after countless defeats in battles.
If I try to assess the situation, behind those defeats was my lack of knowledge, and most importantly, inconsistency. I have seen players building their fortunes playing this game. Many of them are completely stranger to Hive blogging community but they are successful SL players. Some are early starters, but a few of them started new yet climbed the top due to their dedication and especially, for their attitude to learn from mistakes without being frustrated.
What is it that I am lacking?
Unlike them, I play Splinterlands occasionally; mostly when I am bored with my usual tasks. Therefore, my selection of summoner fails, and so is my battle lineup. Although it’s a no-brainer to understand that success in our everyday life depends on consistency and mastery over things, I bet there are hundreds of SL players out there who play once in a while and end up being a loser.
They all, including me, need to be consistent with the playing. Otherwise, failure is imminent.

There was a time I used to play the game several times a day. Initially, I failed to understand how it works but with regular practice, I managed to learn my cards, their abilities, positions, and a few other things necessary to have a decent fight.
I remember those days, my golden days in Splinterlands when the winning ratio was around 30:70ish; not bad for a beginner with basic cards. But over time, I went off track and now that I am trying to play again, my winning ratio is straight 0:100. And I am not surprised.
An inconsistent player like me deserves this.
So, if I am to summarise what is it I am lacking at this moment, it’s the consistency of practice and a bit of persistence. Without this duo, I am sure there will be no win no matter how weak my opponent is.
And being a better strategy requires patience to invest time, willingness to practice regularly, and consistency in spending time to practice, learn and innovate. About innovation in Splinterlands, you should be able to understand your cards like a shaman. The more knowledge you gather, the better your chances are to win a battle. My two cents for beginners.
Also, there is no shortcut to success in SL. You need to travel the hard paths to reach the sweet spot where a fortune awaits.
If you can prove your competence, there are many guilds to join where you can earn more without having to invest hefty money in building your repository. Yes, SL favours the brave who are passionate about winning with their hearts and brains.

Exchange SPT into DEC and buy key cards, rent the rest. I am basically able to reach Gold with 500 DEC rentals, just building a Fire and a Water team and ignoring the rest of the games. Is not hard if you study the game. Strategy matter too! All the cards rented are lvl 1 or 2 only.

Hello, your post makes me remember my beginnings in "splinterlands".
It really does take a while to get the hang of the game, but once you do it's very easy. Those are the triple "Ps" for playing this game.👍👍👍
The beginning is always difficult, especially for card games. As you said, once we understand the ecosystem, then the real game begins.
However, the difference between early starters and newcomers is mostly rewards. Hence, many of the new players feel demotivated to remain committed to the game. But fortune favours the steady players. Without this, even a veteran is bound to collapse. Thank you for your thoughtful words mate.
