SPS aka Splintershards is the governance token of the Splinterlands and it is going to play a crucial part in the Splinterlands ecosystem in the future as more utilities and use cases will be created for it. To have a healthy price for the SPS definitely will be a priority for the team because when you visit Gamefi in coingecko, you will see that Splinterlands ranking is solely determined by the SPS only and other tokens like DEC, VOUCHER, cards assets. Land assets are not part of the calculation. The current price of SPS really put Splinterlands at a much lower ranking than other gaming projects despite it being the most-played blockchain game. Having an overall market rank below 1000 is also not impressive and I really wish to see Splinterlands in the top 50 in the ranking. Splinterland has many more active users than Axie Infinity but in market capitalization, it is nowhere near to Axie Infinity. In current scenario, 1 SPS should be equal to $1.31 in order to match Axie's market cap

1. Stake SPS

Staking SPS yields 18% APR in VOUCHERS and SPS also gets the airdropped GLX(Genesis game league governance token) so it makes an overall APR of 22%. Unfortunately, both GLX and SPS are trading on their low values but I am sure the situation will change once DEC is burned and Genesis game league launches playable Beta. I have high hopes for 2024 and current strategy should be increasing and preserving the stash.

2. Pool SPS

Pooling SPS in the Deisel pool and ETH and BNB chain can have the benefits of having liquid SPS and earning interest. A full list of polling pairs and options can be found here. But beware of the impermanent loss when one uses the Defi Pool.

3. Delegate SPS

Soon SPS stake requirements will be tied to the League requirements, If you are an active player and stake more SPS then your league requirement then you can delegate this "extra" SPS for more passive earning. Delegate option is enabled in the game but I think "delegation market" will be enabled once rank changes happen. It is nice to see what APR we can get in the delegation market.

4. Better game rewards.

For the same reason as mentioned above, one needs the "certain" SPS to unlock fully as shown in the below table. So having more SPS will help you get full rewards and extra can be delegated out.

5. Governance.

SPS is still the governance token that gives voting rights for all Splinterlands-related proposals. This is not a direct monetary benefit but it is your voice in the Splinterlands Ecosystem.
