Valentine’s Day is Approaching: Love is in the air in the Splinterlands.

Valentine's Day is approaching. Love is in the air in the Splinterlands. I know you’ve noticed it, too.

Merdaali Guardian and Scavo Hireling…I mean sure, one lives under the sea and one lives above, but there is definitely something going on between them. Whenever one of them is about to go into battle, they pretty much DEMAND for the other to also be included. They work so well together, they are like two peas in a pod...peanut butter and jelly...salt and pepper...They obviously have a thing going on.

I thought it would be cute to include them both on a Valentine expressing their love for one another.

Materials:

  • Surface Pro
  • MS Paint

First I designed a very simple frame:

The I laid about a very basic goofy sketch of them.

Next I set about filing in some basic details. Keep in mind I am not trying to replicate every detail of the characters, just enough specifics so a Splinterlands player could tell who they are supposed to be.

I needed to have some kind of fluff in the background, so I went ahead and filled in some things. Obviously Scavo can't breathe underwater, so you can see the air escaping and floating to the surface. I put in some hearts, you know, because this is a valentine card. I added some fish that are also in love and went ahead and added a festive message.

I then added in some different colors to make it busier and more pleasing to look at.

I am not pleased at all with the shape of the water monster's body or face. I want it to be cutsie-like, but it's wrong. She does seem to have an awkward shape anyway, since she isn't really a mermaid, more of a whale or something. I changed it up, added some more depth here and there and I’m calling it done. I am 85% pleased with it.

This got me thinking though. People could make NFT cards and send them to each other’s wallets for holidays. Has anyone capitalized on that yet? That would be kind of a fun project to do. Like Hallmark but with NFTs?
