Hello Splinterlands community! A new season has started in Splinterlands and I was too excited to jump straight into the battlefield. Because I had the plans to jump from frontier ranked match to Modern Ranked match. It is like a fresh opportunity to improve, gain rewards and learn more about the game. Since I am still very new to the game my each victory feels special to me.

I think it was my lucky day today and to be honest I enjoyed every bit of it. Somehow, I have managed to win an important ranked battle, reached Bronze III, earned 81 Glint, also I got a Rare reward card and in addition I got a nice bonus from the daily spin. So, I will say that it was truly a satisfying way to start to the season.

My Team

Okay so in this battle, I wanted to make a team that could survive for a long time while slowly wearing down my opponent. As the mana cap was 27 only, I did not have many options. Also, we got the advantage of shields and I thought life element is the best for it. Because I could get the advantage of the shields. So instead of using only damage dealers, I focused on protecting my strongest attacker.

Summoner

Incessant Sage Lv. 1 (Gives all friendly monsters +1 Armor)

I did not have any idea if it would work, but in low-level battles I thought that it can make a huge difference. Because it can help to absorb the enemies attack also, gives my team more time to fight back.

1st Position – Twice Yester Knight (Level 1)

She worked nicely last time in the frontline so I choose her again Twice Yester Knight she can work as my main tank. She has the shield and can take damage instead of her teammates so she can easily protect the other teammates. Thanks to the extra armor from the summoner it was able to survive longer than it normally would.

2nd Position – New Beluroc Aegis (Level 1)

I placed New Beluroc Aegis. Because he uses melee attacks, keeping it in the second position allowed it to continue supporting my frontline while staying protected for as long as possible. Also, I think he is one of the strongest card.

3rd Position – Lady Amara (Level 1)

My last placement was for Lady Amara, she uses magic. I didn't have any in the team also I thought she has good amount of lives which could be useful so I took her in. I was impressed because her magic damage ignored opponents armor and directly attacks health. While my frontline kept the enemy busy, Lady Amara consistently gave damages every round without taking any damages.

My enemy's Team

My opponent entered the battle with:

Summoner: Dolfar Darflak (Level 3)
Chaos Orc (Level 2) in the first position
Nimbledook Scout (Level 3) in the second position
Gobalano Soldier (Level 2) in the third position

The Chaos Orc was clearly built to absorb damage while the Gobalano Soldier added more melee pressure. Although the Nimbledook Scout had no attack, it still played a supporting role in the lineup.

How the Battle Went

The battle lasted 12 rounds, and it is one of the longer matches I have played recently. From the beginning, I think we both were giving out the best performance. My frontline absorbed the early attacks, and the additional armor from Incessant Sage proved to be very valuable. Every extra point of protection helped my frontline stay alive just a little longer.

My enemy focused on defeating my Twice Yester Knight who kept dealing with damage every round. She slowly reduced the opponent's health without worrying about the rest. Then New Beluroc Aegis also continued supporting from behind. Well he was consistent with attacks and had better survivability.

By the later rounds, my enemy's team started falling apart while my remaining units continued fighting together. After twelve rounds of back-and-forth action, I secured the victory with Lady Amara.

When the battle ended I got 20 rating points, and then I successfully got the opportunity to reach Bronze III in the new season.

My Rewards

I didn't expect to reach Bronze III in one day, it felt rewarding because I also received some prizes.
I got 81 Glint, which I can save for future reward purchases in the shop.

After opening my reward boxes, I received a Rare Careless Badger card. I don't know how powerful this card is yet. I'm still a new player and growing my collection, every new card is valuable for me. Even if I don't use it immediately, it adds strength to my collection and gives me more options for future battles.

My luck in daily spin was too good. I received a Battle Challenge reward worth 200 Sparks plus a 20 Sparks bonus. It was a nice surprise and made the start of the season even more enjoyable.

Looking Ahead

I feel proud of myself that I could achieve so much in modern ranked match. A new season has started on a very positive note for me. Reaching Bronze III so early boosted my confidence to continue climbing the rankings. I have been learning something new in each battle. My knowledge in team composition has increased a bit also choosing the right cards for different rulesets.

But I think I still have a lot to learn, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about Splinterlands. Every match is different and enjoyable. I think small decisions as like choosing the right summoner or placing monsters in the correct order which can completely change the outcome of a battle. Anyway, I hope to collect more cards, improve my gameplay and gain more higher ranks in the future.
