My Splinterlands Journey.. Not just a Game

Hello and Namaste Everyone

This is my submission for the Splinterlands Challenge in which we need to share our journey with the game.

It's good that the team behind splinterlands is trying to make the challenge more interactive as they keep on changing the theme. Earlier it was fixed when we were allowed to talk about the game and we could choose the topic we wanted but now the team wants us to follow the theme. They have followed the theme for the last few weeks related to the rebellion booster pack. Now they have come up with another fantastic idea which is a kind of opportunity for us as a player to share our journey with the community.

My Beginning with Splinterlands

I got to know about this game through posts on Hive and Twitter. I had no idea what this game was about because I never played this kind of game before. @kenny-crane used to write about the game and after reading for a long time about the game, I finally decided to start with it. I did not even know how I started and this is where Kenny helped me a lot to explain how the game works. Before buying the starter pack I logged in to the game account but could not do anything. It was all blank after logging in and this is why you can see the different start date in my game account but actually, the real date is different. I tried doing something but it was a waste of time as I had no starter pack and even was completely blank about the game.

In the above snapshot, you can see that I started battle in August 2019 and it was the time when I logged login just for fun and had no knowledge about the game. I started again after six months which was the second quarter of two thousand twenty and since then I have been an active player in the game.

Finally, I bought a starter pack in the first quarter of the year 2020 and it was the time when I spent some time learning about the game. The tips I received from Kenny were helpful. I was just trying to do something in the game after buying the starter pack and this was all just to learn more about it. COVID lockdown was the time that worked in my favor when I got more time to give it to the game.

I started reading more posts about the Splinterlands and watched many videos on YouTube to see how it works. I can say it took about 6 months for me to become familiar with the game and then I started writing my participation post for social media followed by Battle Share later on. Trust me it was not easy in the beginning because everything was new for me and I come from a non-technical background so my understanding of technology is poor. I always believe that with dedication and learning nothing is impossible and now I find myself in a better place when I know a lot about the game and I am a regular player in splinterlands. Even though I'm not much updated about the lands and what are the upcoming components still it's fine because I am a player and I know a lot about the battles which I think is good enough for me as of now.

Duration of Participation

Since I joined in the first quarter of 2000 and 20 so this way I have completed 3.5 years with the game. I enjoyed the game and I don't just play this game for the reward instead I played more for the fun and my son liked it a lot. During the time of Covid lockdown, we used to play a lot of battles and at that time there was no such restriction on the energy which was good for me. This journey has been amazing and full of fun and even now I enjoy the game a lot and try to play it almost every day.

Time Spent in Splinterlands-

Can you believe me that I used to spend almost an entire day in the beginning just to learn more about the game? I mean to say that I used to spend about seven to eight hours in the game to know about different things including card battle abilities and how to play better. Probably this is the reason why I got to learn a lot about the game and within six months I was able to participate in the challenges organized by the splinterlads. I am very happy that I was able to utilize the covid lockdown time to learn about this amazing game and this was a worthy investment of time that I did at the right place.

Accomplishments

I think I'm a good player but I would not say that I'm an extraordinary player in the game so from this point of view I can't say that this is something I can call it accomplishment. But I can say that I have built within this game. Though I was new in the game and did not know about so many things still I tried to build different types of assets and now even many experienced players do not have lands but I do hold some plots in my account. I had clear thought about the game since day one that I wanted to be part of it for a long time and this is the reason why I did not sell those plots when the value was so high in the last bull run cycle. In my opinion, this is no less than any accomplishment because whatever I have purchased in the game is still with me and I never sold anything. This is just because I believe in the game and since day one I had a clear goal about this game and what I'm going to do.

Advice for Beginners

My advice would be for beginners to start with the game and focus more on the fun side. We need to understand this is not a traditional game so learning is very important and the more you learn in the initial days make you stronger are as a player in the game. We all are aware that this is a play-to-earned game where if you play well you can earn a great reward but I highly recommend you not to focus on the rewards and monetary value at least in the beginning. Please focus on the game and the fun you are getting out of it because that will help you have a good command of the game and you will learn a lot with fun and excitement.

It's not just a Game for me

Everyone likes rewards for the game and I'm also not the exception but is still my first preference is to have a fun time with this game and this is the reason why I never thought of selling anything even when the value was very high in the market. I am from India and $100 is a big amount for anyone if we convert it to INR.

My account value was almost 6k USD in the last bull run and trust me I did not think of selling anything because I had a long-term goal. Money is important but it is not everything and with this game, I had a clear vision from the beginning that I wanted to build something in this blockchain world. I still do the same and keep on investing in different assets from time to time.

This is quite a big amount in India and with with amount you can do a lot in India. You can buy a decent car with no loan and even a lot of jewelry or much more.

I'm a proud player of this game and I'm very happy that I chose to join this game at the right time but the credit goes to @kenny-crane for helping me out in the initial days and his support has been amazing in my journey in the game as well as on hive. There is a lot that I can write about this game because it has been part of my life for more than three years but I do not want to make this post so long so that people lose interest and maybe I will try to share another part of my journey
