#45 - One Quick Tip To Save Rentals Using PeakMonsters

Hmm how many of you have used the function "Compare Your Rentals" at PeakMonsters? By clicking on this button, it compares your existing rental rates against the cheapest rental rates listed in the market for your cards.

Let me demonstrate with a live example.

Have blanked out the owner of the cards for privacy

By comparing rentals, I noticed that two of my cards have existing rental rates that are higher than the current rental rates listed in the market.

For Forgotten One, I was renting at 0.429 DEC/day but the cheapest rental rate was shown to be 0.320 DEC/day. Likewise for Magi of Chaos, I was renting at 0.330 DEC/day but the cheapest rental rate was shown to be 0.254 DEC/day. Both cards are around 30% cheaper now!

So as you can see from my screenshot, what I did was to rent the cards that have a cheaper rent and cancel my existing rentals. (There was some time lag between getting the rentals and taking the screenshots thereafter hence I only managed to get Magi of Chaos at 0.259 DEC/day instead of 0.254 DEC/day at that point in time.) It might not seem to be a lot of difference in terms of DEC, but if you have a huge deck of cards and/or are renting the cards for a longer term, the difference of 30% in rental can add up to be quite significant!

Perhaps it's also a good time to check the rental rates given that they have been on a downtrend lately. Hope you will find this tip useful!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

When renting cards, we take a kind of gamble that we will earn more with the game than we pay for rental fees. Therefore it's very important to keep our costs as low as possible at any time. This tool is a perfect example how we can do that. Thanks for sharing!

Nice tip. I am usually renting cards for the season. 15 days. This ties up the DEC but also lets me know the cards are there when I want to play them. I have to watch out for there being enough difference between the drop in price and the end of the current rental. The overlap of half a day can make the swap not cost effective sometimes.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, I see where you are coming from and agree with you too. Hence I think a better way might be to wait till the cards are almost due for renewals and the difference between the rental rates are significant enough (e.g. 30%). In my post above, I only rented the new cards when my old ones were expiring in about 2 hours. Cheers!
