Analysing Rebellion Cards #2 - Underboss Fabino And Avina Of The Wolf

image.png

Hello there!

Have you noticed an entire set of new Rebellion cards being "spammed" into the card selection when you are frantically searching for your cards within the 3 minute timer to submit your teams? You are not alone haha!

I figured out that players will need some time to learn some of these new cards, and rather than going through a structured process of studying each element and each card, I thought why not just learn the cards through actual battles? After all, the practical usage of these cards are important than just looking at the stats, and you will never know how they perform until you actually send them to battlefield!

But what about the starter card penalty?

I realised one smart way of bypassing this is to test these cards during guild brawls! I mean, that's not asking you to throw random Rebellion cards into battle and pray for the best result, but to use them intelligently and incorporating them into your lineup. So in this post, I am going to share 3 interesting Rebellion cards that I encountered in this guild brawl. And they are Underboss Fabino And Avina Of The Wolf!

But before I start, to make this a little more fun, I have come up with a personal rating system to decide if the card is worth buying or renting or not worth a place in your team!

RatingWhat It Means
5 starsDefinitely a must have in every player's team and usable in almost all situations
4 starsRecommended to have in every player's team, but might be useful in certain situations
3 starsA card that's good to have, useful in some instances or ideal in limited situations
2 starsNot useful in most situations, but might come in handy in limited situations
1 starNot worth having the card in your collection unless it's really cheap

So without further ado, let's go!

UNDERBOSS FABINO

Underboss Fabino is an interesting summoner, especially for Earth, because of two interesting boosts it has. You can give 2 extra Melee damage to two of your cards or give Poison to one opponent's card. In this case, I have used it in the brawl for a low mana battle to boost the attack of 2 Melee cards. This turned out to be amazing because my Gladius card Palidon Rakk was able to build up Bloodlust very easily with a Melee damage of 5! Of course I won the battle!

Pros: When the abilities are used right, this can be very powerful to the damage output. The Melee boost brings an extra 4 damage output per turn. For the Poison ability, I haven't had the chance to test it out but it will only get you 2 damage per round, so it might not be so useful.
Cons: It comes at 5 mana so it's more costly than the usual Rare summoners. For big battles, it might be more useful to go for summoners that can boost the entire lineup rather than just one or two cards.

VERDICT: Summoners are always expensive, but at 1.75, it does feel a little steep and it rings FOMO to me. Similar to the Chaos Legion summoners, it might make sense to wait a while for the prices to stabilise before I would consider adding this card to my collection. Would give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Ending off with Lore for your reading interest:

In the streets of New Gobson, the name Fabino commands both respect and fear. Brother of the Gobson Family’s boss, Giovanni Gobson, Fabino ensures every racket runs smoothly, every coin is accounted for, and every insult and act of disrespect is repaid to the hilt.

Perhaps the only thing fiercer than his loyalty to his brother is his contempt for the Chaos Empire and its Gobalano lickspittles—the Gobalano because of their willingness to kiss the empire’s ring and meddle in the Gobson Family’s affairs, and the empire because any who make the Gobson kiss a ring will be repaid… to the hilt.

AVINA OF THE WOLF

Avina Of The Wolf as a Life summoner can be pretty crazy when stacked with a list of proficient healers in Life lineups. When the Heal ability is placed on the tank, when coupled with healers with Tank Heal, the effect can be very scary. This buys a lot of time for the backline to inflict damage. Its second ability is a boost of speed and this would surely, surely, benefit cards like Pelacor Arbalest who is prone to missing hits or be taken out by quicker Opportunity cards. All in all, a summoner with two strong abilities if used strategically.

Pros: A well rounded summoner, because Speed Boost and Heal abilities are very versatile and can be used in almost all the ruleset and most cards too.
Cons: I wanted to say it comes at 5 mana and would be costly, but I think it's actually worth it when the situation calls for it.

VERDICT: And it's no wonder it has a hefty price tag at 3.47. There is no doubt that she is extremely strong and add depth to Life lineups. But at this price, I am a little hesitant to buy too. Similar to the Chaos Legion summoners, it might make sense to wait a while for the prices to stabilise before I would consider adding this card to my collection. Would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Ending off with Lore for your reading interest:

The Kingdom of Khymia has been subsumed by the Chaos Empire. New Dawn serves as the capital of its Ongonaur Kalamenty. But while the Order of the Silver Shield may have lost the war, they haven’t lost their fight.

As part of the Silver Shield’s insurgency in New Dawn, Knight Sergeant Avina Galalaine has devoted herself to ending the Chaos Empire, no matter the cost. Her brutal hit-and-run tactics are infamous among her enemies, who have taken to calling her “the Wolf,” and she wears this moniker like a badge of pride.

While Commander Gregory Goff, leader of the Silver Shield in New Dawn, may question her methods, Avina of the Wolf has earned his trust and respect. And when the dawn comes to break the chains of tyranny, there is no one he would rather have at his side.

To sum up, here's what we have!

Rebellion CardsElementRarityRating (max 5)
Avina Of The WolfLifeRare4

Ulundin OverseerNeutralCommon3.5
Underboss FabinoEarthRare2

I thought I sort it in alphabetical order for easily reference

Just to also add on, the ratings are solely based on my personal views and also based on the stats and abilities at Level 1. Different players have different strategies and playing styles so the cards that work for me might or might not work for others. Also, at higher levels, some cards might be stronger or gain more abilities, but since I won't be able to access them for the time being, I will stick with trying out the starter deck. When I have more time, I will continue this series when I have tried out more Rebellion cards!

Let me know what you think!
