Battle Mage Secrets - Using Iziar With Healers

image.png

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Keep Your Distance ruleset this time! This means units with melee attacks may not be used. It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a Legendary Soulbound card, Iziar!

Iziar is an extremely powerful card with Taunt and Void abilities, which makes her very useful when only Magic cards are allowed or even when Melee or Ranged cards aren't allowed. Even though it's a high mana card, its HP makes it all worthwhile!

As usual, here's the lore for Iziar for your reading interest:

Iziar is the last of the Blesog, a faction of storm giants that hail from the peaks of the Agniavas. It has been a decade since her beloved fell, stricken by time, and now his bones lie beneath the cold, crystalline ground of one of the range’s tallest peaks. But before he passed on, he left Iziar with a gift, the seed of new life. She holds this keepsake deep inside her, teaching and preparing her unborn children for the day when she passes on and they must find their own way in the world.

Iziar remains isolated within the mountains, and few have laid eyes upon her. She spends most days toying with the elements, mixing combinations of the ruinous powers of nature and delighting in their raw elemental displays. It is said that nobody can throw lightning quite like a storm giant, and the swirling tornadoes they conjure with a simple twirl of their finger can level a city.

It is written in the prophecies of the Blesog that should the life of the land ever be threatened, then the storm giants will leave their peaks above the clouds and descend into the highlands and lowlands, bringing the raw, elemental power of the tempests with them… and woe to those who stand in their way.

Battle Type & Team Lineup

PositionCard/LevelMana
SummonerFranz Ruffmane6

Franz Ruffmane is Soulbound summoner and he allows me to use Gladius cards for the battle, which is crucial for me, because I will be setting up a Life Magic lineup.

PositionCard/LevelMana
1Iziar11

Since Melee cards cannot be used, the opponent can only use Ranged and Magic cards. Iziar comes in very handy because there is a 50% chance that Void will be activated and being backed by two healers in backline make her an even stronger tank.

PositionCard/LevelMana
2Creeping Ooze1

Creeping Ooze comes in as a filler card but its Slow ability further damage my opponent's card and they will have a harder time hitting my high speed cards.

PositionCard/LevelMana
3Sola Ranjell3

Sola Ranjell is a Legendary Gladius card with healing abilities and she is very strong both in terms of attack and defence.

PositionCard/LevelMana
4Venari Crystalsmith4

As much as I would like to say Sola Ranjell is a strong version of Venari Crystalsmith, why not use both? With two healers and a tank with 12 HP, I am sure it will be a strong setup.

  • Pre Battle: Fortunately, my opponent didn't put up strong cards. No Legendary cards at all and all are at Level 1. Let's see how my team performs!
    image.png
  • Rounds 1-2: After two rounds, it was clear that there was only going to be 1 winner. My opponent's damage wasn't enough to overcome both my healers' healing.
    image.png
  • Round 3-4: With Iziar being healed at 6 HP per turn, my team just continued to take down my opponent's cards one by one.
    image.png
  • Rounds 5-6: My advance was startled a little when my opponent gained the Martyr boost and I had to grind my hits through. 4 cards more!
    image.png
  • Rounds 7-8: Down to the final two cards.. Iziar was still standing tall!
    image.png
  • Rounds 9: And we were done!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? While my opponent didn't give me a close fight, I stuck to my carefully thought out strategy and lineup, and executed my plan accordingly. It's always a joy to use strong cards like Iziar and Sola Ranjell.

What's the Battle Mage Secret? Iziar is extremely powerful and she can be paired with many Life healers to be near invincible.

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

Iziar is a very interesting card especially if developped where it comes with martyr ability. Great post!
