Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Remember To Do Your Fights And More Gladius Card Reviews!

avatar

I have recently joined a guild and it's Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

And I just completed the 4th brawl with them!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Trying Out A New Fray...And How It Went

This time, I had more options to choose the fray and I opted for one which I thought would be more manageable for my gameplay, which consists of 100% Level 1 cards. The fray which I chose was Fray 7, i.e. 3/2/2/1 Chaos. Interestingly, I was expecting more fights but there were only 5 battles. I started my brawl fights with excitement as I had come into the brawl with 5 additional Gladius cards from the recent opening of my 3rd Gladius case.

However, the excitement soon faded, as I was getting either low mana battles or high mana but with Little League modifiers. This meant I couldn't play most of my big regular cards, as well as my powerful Gladius cards. Still, I did what I could and I must say I got "lucky" this time! Read on to find out why!

  • We Got 4th!

So for the final result, we finished 4th out of 10 guilds and got a decent 508 Merits, which was a good result in my view nonetheless.

Individually, I had 5 fights this time and I managed 3 wins, finishing 4th within the guild. Not bad for my first experience in this fray.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Isgard Vorst

Water lineups are my favourite and I have picked Isgard Vorst to assist me as it is the Deeplurker equivalent with Bloodlust. However, I was outfought this time as my opponent had a Gladius Card with Reach and the opposing Disintegrator really affected my overall damage output. A small tip/point that I learnt in this battle is that Bloodlust is extremely tricky for a Poison battle as most of the cards will be wiped out by Poison eventually.

Battle 2 - WIN

Opponent fled!

Battle 3 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Palidon Rakk

Summoners were silenced and no magic cards could be used, and I was scrambled to look for good Gladius cards to play when Palidon Rakk caught my eye. Unfortunately, I was outfought by a Water lineup (ouch), and my favourite Isgard Vorst (ouch x 2). On hindsight, that would be the ideal lineup. Something to take note for future brawls. As for Palidon Rakk, he was unable to get Bloodlust activated because Diemonshark was really tough to take down.

Battle 4 - WIN

Opponent fled. 2nd one? YES!

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Orella Abadon

When the lineups came out, I felt nervous because quite a number of cards looked similar! I picked Orella Abadon because its Melee damage went well for Tarsa but my opponent did the same. Fortunately, my opponent's backline was much squishy compared to mine and my Bloodlust was activated faster and that made my difference. In the end, my Orella Abadon wiped out almost the entire team as his Melee damage surged to 7! Had to say this was a perfect battle and everything came together, from card choice to card placement.

So that sums up my 5 battles for this brawl! The main takeaway from this brawl would be to REMEMBER TO DO THE FIGHTS because you never know how many free wins you are going to get! LOL!

Review Of Gladius Cards

Since I am able to use Gladius cards now, I thought I should review selected cards that helped me win in the brawls. Of course, this week's feature is none other than Orella Abadon! Of course, please let me know if you have any tips in using these cards too as I am keen to learn and improve too!

CARD: ORELLA ABADON
ELEMENT: FIRE
RARITY: RARE
ABILITY: BLOODLUST, SNEAK

At only 2 mana, it is definitely one of the top choices for low mana fights. Also, Tarsa's boosts fit perfectly for him, bringing his Melee damage from 2 to 3, as well as his HP from 2 to 3. These are very significant boosts, for a card (I repeat) that costs only 2 HP. With just 1 or 2 rounds, Bloodlust should come and he will turn into a monster in no time. The only challenge comes with protecting him from Opportunity cards and once that is covered, there should not be any issues. Finally, one issue with this card is probably its usage, i.e. it is only suited for low mana fights and I wouldn't pick a 2 mana Gladius card for a high mana fight because of the quota.

That's all I have! Let me know if you have any thoughts too!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

Low mana battles are not a lot of fun, unless the rule set just hits it perfectly type of thing. Go !PIZZA fam!
