Share Your Battle - A Fight Between Two Siblings

The theme for the current "Share Your Battle" challenge is Dragons. I have been sharing a lot about Djinn Chwala and Brighton Bloom in the previous posts, and today I will be sharing a battle between two Dragon summoners. They are Daria Dragonscale and Delwyn Dragonscale. Did you know they are siblings? Here's a snippet of the lore for both summoners!

Daria is the only Gloridax summoner who is also a member of the elite Dragonsguard. Not only is she trained to summon the largest and fiercest Dragons, but she is herself proficient in all the arts of war. Daria is clever, quick, and beautiful. Though she carries the purest Fire Blood, she refuses to take a mate.

Some time ago, Daria Dragonscale nearly lost her twin brother Delwyn to the Burn that had stricken so many of the scaled. She would have lost him completely, but at his deathbed she hired the services of a dark sorcerer who transferred his soul into a special Heliosoulstone. While he was suspended inside the stone, Daria traveled to the Earth Splinter, where she visited the Flesh Golems in the root of the Elder Tree. With their help, she created a new Golem from fleshy scraps. Delwyn’s soul was transferred into the new Golem, and Daria had her brother back… forever.

PositionCardNotes
SummonerDaria DragonscaleI might have gone for Fire for this Melee battle but I realised Dragon had a lot of good Melee attackers so I went for Daria Dragonscale instead.
1Djinn ChwalaDjinn Chwala was always the default tank for Dragon fights as it was super tanky and had Thorns.
2Carnage TitanA very strong Dragon card with Reach and the +1 Melee Boost from the summoner should be very beneficial.
3DisintegratorA must have for all Melee fights!
4Dhampir InfiltratorI recently realised how good this card was and its Double Strike would be heavily boosted by the summoner as well.
5Fungus FiendPurely to protect the backline and there wasn't much mana left in the quota.
6Mycelic MorphoidPurely to protect the backline and there wasn't much mana left in the quota.

  • Pre Battle: I was pretty used to seeing Level 2 or 3 Summoners at my current rating, but seeing a Level 5 Summoner on the opposing end was quite a surprise. As always, I always felt like I was the underdog and let's see if there would be a surprise.

  • Round 1: Off to a bad start as both Djinn Chwala and Carnage Titan missed their hits against the scary-looking flying tank. That's 9 potential Melee damage wasted. The only consolation would be Dhampir Infiltrator striking off their last card.
    image.png
  • Round 2: Can't ask for anything more this round as all 3 cards got their hits and dealt 13 damage in total, 17 including Thorns. One of my backline buffers got struck out and I still had a decent chance in this.
    image.png
  • Round 3: The Flying cards on the opposing side continued to cause problems as Carnage Titan and Dhampir Infiltrator both missed 1 of their 2 hits. Djinn Chwala was struck out before having a chance to hit and it was definitely a big blow for the team.

  • Round 4: Carnage Titan proved to be equally tanky, if not more, compared to Djinn Chwala. Within a few hits, my opponent was down to the last card. Looking at the stats - 5 Melee damage, 5 Speed, Flying, it was definitely not going to be a walkover.

  • Round 5: Luck was on my side and I still had enough to seal the victory after 1 miss from Carnage Titan. Did I just win a Level 5 Summoner with my deck of Level 1 cards? WOW.

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? I didn't have a particular strategy in this battle but partnering Djinn Chwala and Carnage Titan seemed to have served me well most of the time. Both of them have decent damage and speed. The only risk is a tank with Shield/Disintegrator.

Do I like Dragons? Yes, I think they have very strong cards but most of their cards have higher than average mana, so I wouldn't use them for low mana fights.

Final thoughts? It's always a delight to outperform and beat higher level summoners with my deck of Level 1 cards. Many have said that it's almost impossible to survive in Silver without Level 2 or Level 3 Summoners/cards but I respectfully disagree. I think while it's definitely very challenging, it is still possible. My win rate for last season was 56.1% and my current win rate this season is 56.0%.

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
