Share Your Battle - Found A Great Card By Accident

The theme for the current "Share Your Battle" challenge is Mycelic Infantry but I thought of sharing a battle with an interesting card that I came across by accident! And that is Torhilo The Frozen! I came across this card during the last season's EOS when I was renting for CP and since I had it rented for 2 days, I managed to try this card for some battles and I was actually quite impressed by how tanky and defensive this card was!

Because I rented the Gold Foil version due to the need for CP, it came at Level 2. The stats are extremely tanky with 5 armor and 9 HP. Most armor heavy tank cards are extremely vulnerable to magic attacks (e.g. Diemonshark) but Torhilo The Frozen has Void ability to protect itself against Magic. This means it is defensive against all 3 types of attacks!

As usual, here's the lore for Torhilo The Frozen for your reading interest:

This massive frozen bull is one of the Frost Giant’s only friends left in the world. He has lived for hundreds of years and is growing tired, but Torhillo still charges at everything he faces with vigor.

Battle Type & Team Lineup

PositionCard/LevelManaNotes
SummonerKelya Frendul4With a 99 mana battle, I went for Kelya Frendul because my best cards were with Water and Dragon and Dragon wasn't available for the selection.
1Torhilo The Frozen9Torhilo The Frozen stepped in perfectly for this Reverse Speed as it is one of the unique Water cards with such poor speed (often a bad thing, but not this one).
2Djinn Oshannus8Djinn Oshannus was always the trusty Legendary Water card that would be important in high battle fights because there would be Magic cards/attacks.
3Nerissa Tridawn9The buffet quota for mana meant Nerissa Tridawn got to feature as well. 3 Magic damage could be pretty massive at times.
4Coastal Nymph9Coastal Nymph was not really a powerful card but since there was no mana restriction, it was still decent to put out a 3 Ranged damage card with good armor and HP.
5Axemaster7Axemaster would be solely in charge of the damage output and the key to winning this battle.
6Wave Brood8Wave Brood's Taunt ability would be very valuable to buy some time for the rest of the team so that they could deal the damage.

  • Pre Battle: Looking at both lineups, I would say mine was the all rounded team whereas I think my opponent went for the Magic attack approach. With Torhilo The Frozen as the tank, I think it would be extremely challenging for them, but you can never underestimate Alric's magic lineups.

  • Round 1: Reverse speed meant Djinn Oshannus had to go last. While the opposing team's damage output was massive, my team held firmly and quickly disposed off their tank.
    image.png
  • Round 2: Wave Brood went off having done its utmost to delay damage onto the rest of the team, and my opponent was still having a hard time finding a breakthrough on Torhilo The Frozen. Even their Nerissa Tridawn's 4 magic damage was reduced 2 with the Void ability.
    image.png
  • Round 3: Once the opposing Nerissa Tridawn fell, it was game over for my opponent. The rest of their team fell quickly and by the end of the round, Torhilo The Frozen survived and we were almost done with the win.

  • Round 4: And we won! Torhilo The Frozen survived with just 2 HP left after 4 rounds.

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? Torhilo The Frozen turned out to be a solid card for Reverse Speed battle. Being a player that uses Water frequently, I always found that I lack a slow card for the tank when it comes to Reverse Speed battles and discovering Torhilo The Frozen is like finding the missing jigsaw piece to the puzzle.

Do I like Torhilo The Frozen? Definitely yes, and I am somewhat glad that I actually discovered this card by accident because I was just renting for CP. Now I am considering to rent this card on a permanent basis for my daily use, but probably not the Gold Foil version since that would be too expensive! Lol!

Final thoughts? Keep trying out new cards and who knows, you might find some missing pieces to your jigsaw puzzle! :)

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

TORHILO THE FROZEN card is considered very heavy in water's team because this attack is also very good. I don't have this card but I will buy this card soon.
