Rebellion: Just Hours Away (Lets Go)

The highly anticipated pre-sale of the NFT set known as Rebellion starts in just hours (Start Time: Wednesday, October 18th, at 2:00 PM ET / 18:00 UTC). The pre-sale will continue for 30 days or until all 500,000 pre-sale packs are sold out, whichever comes first. (What is Rebellion?) Glad you asked. Rebellion is the newest NFT set introduced by the game known as Splinterlands. The Rebellion NFT's are sold in boosters which contain 5 NFT's each with at least one guaranteed to be rare or better. Once openable the owners of said NFT's can use them to play the Splinterlands game (which will help the player earn rewards). The owner of the NFTs can opt to list them on the market for re-sale. Of course there is always the option to hold them for future use (Cough Cough... Land). And lets not forget the option to rent them out for some passive income. The previous set was known as CHAOS and are officially out of print. No-worries if you want to get your hands on some CHAOS packs you still can. Simply head on over to secondary markets such as LeoDex and Hive-Engine and its there you will find past editions of boosters packs for sale (Alpha, Beta, Untamed, Orbs, Chaos and more). How much does these Rebellion Booster Packs cost? (Another great question) The Rebellion Booster Packs are reasonably priced at just 5000 Credits or 5000 DEC per booster ($5 USD).

$5 (RentMoney We Want Better Deals)

I know what you are thinking $5.00* USD per booster (hmmm) that is a decent price but we wish it was just a little bit lower (wish granted: keep reading for details). After-all the original price of boosters when this game started was just $2 USD (Alpha & Beta Boosters). To that I would say I agree but with the success of the game and general rising cost of just about everything world wide a $5 per booster price point is looking mighty appealing. Not to mention $5 USD is the base price. There are plenty of ways to bring the price down. Just listen to your ol'pal Rentmoney and he will show you the way. You know those Vouchers you been getting airdropped for free for staking the SPS token (that you likely also got airdropped for free). They can be used to lower the price of boosters by up to 20% (That is a $1 discount).

Official Splinterlands Quote:

Each VOUCHER token used will reduce the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%. This means that with the maximum available VOUCHER discount, each pack will cost 4000 Credits or DEC plus 5 VOUCHER tokens.

Hold Up: Potential Savings Ahead

That's right, I'm not done telling you about potential savings just yet. You might of noticed it was mentioned you can purchase with Credits or DEC (Dark Energy Crystals). As everyone knows 5000 credits is equal to $5 USD. If purchasing using Max Voucher Discount + Credits that will bring your booster pack price down to $4* USD. Now lets take a look at DEC and how using it to purchase Booster Packs could potentially put more "money" back in your pocket. As most know; Splinterlands accepts DEC at a rate of $1 USD per 1000 DEC. Before deciding on what currency to purchase your booster packs with it would be wise to go check the HIVE DEX's to see at what price DEC is selling at. For example right now (10/18/23) DEC is selling at a rate of 0.93 USD per 1000 DEC. This means if one were to use the Max Voucher Discount + purchase the packs with DEC our cost per booster pack would come down to 3.72 per booster pack and that my friends is a great deal. Keep in mind the further DEC falls below the $1USD/1000 DEC value Splinterlands accepts it at for purchases the bigger "discount" you can get when compared to using Credits for purchase.

Wait: More Discounts Are Possible

I bet you thought I was finished with the discount tips didn't you. Alright this one is likely more widely known but just in case you are new to Splinterlands I'm here to tell you that you can get additional savings if you plan on purchasing in bulk. Bulk discounts are as follows: (1) Purchase at least 100 Booster Packs for a 5% bonus. Purchase at least 500 Booster Packs for a 10% bonus. Purchase at least 2000 booster packs for a 15% bonus (Bonus is paid in Packs).

I'm pretty excited, but sadly I don't have the finances to go as big into rebellion as I've gone into other sets.

Same here, I'm likely to opt out as I already have allot of Splinterlands assets. If the markets allow I'll jump in sometime in the future. However the price points are tempting me.

I bought 10 just to be a part of it. Interesting that DEC moved up close to par with credits but vouchers that save you $0.20 can be bought for about $0.03

Interesting observations, admittedly I haven't paid attention to the Voucher price but your observation tells me those who purchased or at least those who purchased large quantities of Boosters already had their Vouchers ready to go. Which is no surprise considering the amount of Vouchers in circulation.
