Rebellion Vs. Chaos (Why Choose Rebellion?)

Splinterlands has recently introduced a new set of NFT's (playable in-game) and that sets name is Rebellion. General Sale has not started for the Rebellion set yet but the presale has come and gone. There was a total of 500,000 presale Rebellion packs offered and all but just a few thousand sold making the Rebellion presale a massive success. With the introduction of a new set comes the "sold out" image for another (CHAOS). In fairness CHAOS has been out of stock on the official Splinterlands site for some months now. Its been historically proven that once a set is no longer for sale from the Splinterlands company the sets USD worth increases. At least it was historically correct until CHAOS. At the moment one can purchase CHAOS booster packs from secondary markets (Hive-Engine, Tribaldex to name a few) for somewhere around $0.80 USD (sometimes lower). That brings me to the question, Which is the better deal, REBELLION or CHAOS?. If we are talking strictly price of each pack its an easy choice, one can purchase at least four CHAOS Boosters at the same price one Rebellion booster pack costs. Today's date: (Wednesday) 12/22/2023.

Why Choose Rebellion?

That is a good question and there are multiple reasons as to why. First its the new girl in town and everyone wants an introduction. Perhaps you are an avid collector of SPL NFT's and just need to "catch them all". But aside from FOMO (fear of missing out) and viewing from a collectors point of view what are the in-game benefits? How does the Rebellion set differ from the others? Why spend more on Rebellion when we can spend less on CHAOS? Without stating the obvious things such as the amazing artwork; we want to bring your attention to the fact that the Rebellion set brings new skill-sets to the battle-field that no other set did before them. The first being: 🎮 The Rebellion set will introduce four new unit abilities: Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank, and Lookout 🎮 The second being: 🎮 Some of the Summoners in the Rebellion set will be dual-element, allowing them to summon cards from two elements on the same team 🎮 If that doesn't get you pumped to get involved with Rebellion nothing will. Two elements (Two elements) we can choose monsters from two elements (Things are going to get interesting on the battlefield). On top of that no-one wants to go into battle without all abilities in their arsenal. And in order to have all the abilities at your disposal you will need the cards that have the new abilities attached to them. Those cards just so happens to be REBELLION. Now lets take a deeper look at these new abilities that are about to be released.

Armored Strike:

Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!

Corrosive Ward:

When hit with a Melee attack, a unit with this ability does 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND reduces the max Armor of the attacker by 2. This is the nemesis to the Repair ability. You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! Note that this only affects units with Armor.

Flank:

If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Prepare to leverage positioning and the element of surprise. Now your first two units can work together to bring down the enemy tank!

Lookout:

A unit with this ability results in adjacent allies taking one less damage from attackers with Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity. Give your team a heads-up when stalkers approach from the shadows. It's always a good idea to have a Lookout!

The above all seem like must haves to me. If I had to choose one of the four that interests me the most I would say Lookout is going to be a game changer. Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity were all heavily played by many (myself included) and those who used such a strategy will have to adjust their battle tactics vs. those who have the Rebellion Set at their disposal. Are you pumped, want to get some packs but missed the presale. No worries the general sale is just around the corner. While its true Rebellion General sale is just around the corner you do still have plenty of time to get everything ready to participate. In fact you have about two weeks before the flood gates open and Rebellion General Sale is here. The great thing about General Sale is the cost per booster pack is the same as it was in the presale. You don't have to take my word for it: take a look at the below quote from the Splinterlands team. Quote Source can be found by clicking the following highlighted link: Rebellion Is Coming.

Each Rebellion booster pack will have a base price of 5000 Credits or 5000 DEC, and purchasers may spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used will reduce the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%. This means that with the maximum available VOUCHER discount, each pack will cost 4000 Credits or DEC plus 5 VOUCHER tokens.

To the above I will just add that if you do plan on purchasing Rebellion Packs it would be wise (when possible) to consider purchasing DEC from the secondary markets before making your booster pack purchase from the Splinterlands site. The reason being is that Splinterlands the company accepts DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) at the rate of $1/1000. This means if you go to the markets that trade DEC (Most if not all Hive Dex's has DEC listed for trade) and come to find out that DEC is trading below the $1/1000 value Splinterlands accepts it at for payment; you can take advantage of the deal and end up with more packs per dollar spent. In short you can get more for less when purchasing with DEC.

The case for Rebellion 🤔 I was sold on the case for Chaos but that hasn't been working well for me 😅 current average Chaos pack value after opening 64 packs in the last couple of weeks $0.41 🤦‍♂️ It will be interesting to see after market for Rebellion cards.

Rebellion has the power creep on it's side, but I just can't ignore the Chaos cards when the packs are under 0.8$

I agree on both points. If HIVE goes above $0.40 and CHAOS USD price stays the same I might be filling a few more bags with CHAOS boosters. !PIZZA
