The Price Of Splinterland Assets (12/21/2021)

If one thing is certain with cryptocurrency that thing has to be volatility. Those of us that have been invested in cryptocurrency for longer then a year or two have experienced the true meaning of that truth. We have seen ups and downs that newbies would panic over. There is an old saying in cryptocurrency land that goes like this, One BTC is always worth ONE BTC. This is true for all assets, put another way you only lose when you sell. As long as you keep to the most important aspect of investing there should be no reason for panic selling (NEVER INVEST MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE).

The above is also true for our Splinterland assets. While the price of our cards and other Splinterland assets are still at high levels we have seen dips. Today I thought it would be a good idea to record the price of Splinterland assets in a post. I decided to go ahead and do that here in this post. Below I will provide screenshots of the price of all Splinterland assets on the date of 12/21/2021. I plan on making this a semi regular thing as I think it would be very interesting to look back in X Months/ X Years time and compare prices. Screenshot proof has been taken from various places such as Hive-Engine, Tribaldex, Splinterlands and Splinterlands Official Discord.

Total Card MarketCap: $220,836,084

Notes:

The Splinterlands Region sale was completed on the wax network and is the last known Region sale that I'm aware of that has a price record. The last screenshot shows the price of four different types of Totems. TOTEMC is the common Totem, TOTEMR is the Rare Totem, TOTEME is the EPIC Totem and TOTEML is the Legendary Totem. Totems will be used with land once land is implemented within the Splinterlands game. Chaos Legion was excluded above as its the active set that is currently being sold on the official Splinterlands site (Current price of one Chaos Legion Pack is one Voucher + $4.00 USD).

Prices will keep dropping as dEC drops and more cards get released.

It will take a while but we will hit an upturn again when packs sell out and more players buy up the loose stock.

And DEC price will drop as SPS price drops. I agree we will see another upward trend once CL sells out. Land implementation will be another big event. I'm not sure what will take place first, Land or CL selling out.

I think that CL will go fast.
If any of the big guilds come in the will put a few million in the game and there are some sales done already. Then there are all the small users that will buy 10 pack once they dont need vouchers and the likes of me that will buy hundreds in general.

I think they will fly out.

Land will be the big thing. I want to buy a few plots if the prices crash at any stage.

I agree, its possible we see a quick sale of CL Packs. The good news is we don't have to wait long to find out. General Sale 2.0 is just around the corner. Plots are just over $500 USD, that is a drop from $900+. If they dip more to any meaningful degree likely depends on the PRICE of SPS dipping or the SPS airdrop ending before Land is implemented. But who knows for sure, as the saying goes "Markets will Market".

I read a post about something similar yesterday but I was convinced by it that this is healthy. After all, prices were a bit too high for most starters to really consider building their decks. I expect the price drop to continue because there are a lot of packs left to be released.

This downtrend is 100% healthy. Corrections need to happen. Each time we hit peaks there will be selling pressure due to investors wanting profits and that is ok. I agree about entry point being too high previously. This was likely due to no official packs for sale on the Splinterlands site. I suspect we see another upward trend once CL sells out and there once again is no packs available for sale on the official site.

Im interested to see what the wild and modern format changes will do to different card sets like beta

Same here, with Alpha/Beta being excluded from modern format that leans me towards a further price correction for such cards BUT I highly suspect such cards will give much bigger bonuses for land use once available. The DEVS of Splinterlands are a crafty bunch and they love their Alpha cards so I suspect they will make sure they hold value.

My guess is that beta cards will have 5% DEC rewards bonus to try to help retain value or even better alpha goes up to 20% and beta to 10%.

BETA was promised a boost at the start of UNTAMED. As you suggested I bet it'll be a 5% boost.

Oh no, the Splinterlands card market cap has crashed all the way back to the October price! The end is upon us! Time to panic!

Or...

Maybe this is just opportunity knocking.

These dips are a great. They help those who make out like bandits.

Yep, I've been leveling up a few choice cards now that prices are back to a more affordable level.

Its been an interesting rise, I took advantage of the time to build some summoners and chaos legion cards up while they are cheap, even if they get cheaper I saw them as good value for usage in play. I also have added to my land I now own 3 instead of 1.

39 mins left, and i didnt get a chance to vote this sooner Rent, just in time.

SPS gettin crushed though huh. End of year profit taking? Or tax related stuff? Just overall end of year fear? Or has to do with chaos release. Im not too worried anyway

I think its a mixture of allot of things. Profit taking, holiday spending, lack of SPS sinks in place. The 10% discount for Chaos Legion packs helped prop up the SPS price but that discount is now removed. All this is causing the SPS price to drop which in turn is causing even more selling presure. I holding and staking as always. The downword swing doesn't bother me any as I don't plan on cashing it out anyways. I will reconsider my position after the airdrop ends.

The good news, sinks should soon be on the way. The airdrop will eventually end and its very likely SPS gets listed on a big exchange. These things should hopefully make us all regret not buying at the current price. But this is crypto and as the saying goes, never invest more than you are willing to lose. Thanks for the upvotes and comments, the are appreciated.
