1-UP Intro Post - Who Am I? And Curation Strategies....

avatar

I thought I'd do a quick re-introduction post for this alt account of mine, just to put all my accounts in sync, and due to the fact that this account has gradually become 'weightier' over time with its 1M SPT and a tasty 15K ONEUP delegation.

I'm more of a blogger than a gamer but I have actually played my fair share of games in the past, somewhat obsessively....

I think the first was fungaloids which my Uncle introduced me to on the ZX81 (not that I expect anyone to remember that), Munchman on the Texas TI99-4A, which was my first home computer, and I'm also of the generation which enables me to lay claim to having busted a few joysticks playing Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Spectrum.

And then.... Elite, when on the doll, i used to love that, binging on Final Fantasy 7 and Tombraider 2 after University, another year on the doll, and I used The Elder Scrolls to get over a relationship breakdown in my mid 30s.

I did have a look at a few games in the early 2010s when work bought me an ipad, but I remember being VERY disappointed with Clash of Clans, thinking it would be a bit like 'Command and Conquer' but quickly realising the horror of in-game purchases designed to suck all my money out of me, but NB I NEVER spent a penny on that game and quit after about 3 days of playing it.

So I hadn't played games seriously for 15 years until I discovered blockchain gaming through Splinterlands.

I remember @aggroed saying 'You know, I want to make a game', in a discord chat three and a half years ago and I was lucky enough to get in early on that, and although I didn't invest massively I do have a decent stake in Splinterlands having spent spent a good chunk of my Steem PowerDown funds on Splinterlands Cards too around April last year when HIVE was born.

I was lucky enough to get a few Legendaries for cheap at that time....

At the same time I also invested a fair amount in @exode - i managed to pick up three syndicate contracts and a few others, and lots fo Alphas.... I kind of saw in that game an 'Elite' kind of vibe, which has always been one of my faves.

I'm still more of a blogger than a gamer

NB I didn't get into Hive because of gaming, I got into Hive because of blogging, that's mainly what I do, and TBH these days I enjoy writing more about games, especially the financial aspects, more than I do playing them (Splinterlands is just FRUSTRATING, and it takes quite a lot of mental energy, just get BEAT 40% of the time, not a great ratio).

So my main accounts are @revisesociology and @revise.leo - I also used my Steem PD to buy A LOT of LEO, and also sold a lot of that when it was near to $!, but I've still got around a 25K stake and some more in the bleo-bnb pool on Cub Defi.

And I'm a T200 Hive Power holder too, or at least I was until I started a small PD a few weeks ago - a pump is a coming (hopefully) and I'm planning on selling and buying back MORE Hive when it inevitably drops back to $0.50, which it will, it is Hive, but I have an irrational attachment to the mother token.

Oh and I've got nearly 1, 000, 0000 SPT delegated on this account - @revise.spt - I started accumulating that about two months before it was announced that it would count towards the SPS drop and the price went fucking NUTS.

Oh and fun fact, I actually delegate to this account from my main as this account hasn't bought a spell book!

So its a bit of an odd one for me ATM - what I mainly do is write: about Early Retirement (I am retired before 50), financial freedom, crypto, off-grid stuff (I have land I'm supposed to be developing but I'm currently dicking around instead), spirituality sometimes, and just life in general - and I do VERY WELL on Hive out of my writing - it's part of having been around a while, knowing some of the faces, having met some of the witnesses and major developers at SF3 and SF4 - and of course, having a bit of integrity - but now here I am and the gaming aspect is yielding me far more in rewards than the writing.

And obviously THAT in itself is interesting, so I'm well up for exploring more about crypto gaming.

And I've got a nice 15K ONEUP delegation too, I am truly blessed.

And NB - I do trawl and read one up content daily and am trying to spread my vote around, mainly on Splinterlands content as that's what interests me, but I do vote other stuff too!

I am Trying spread my vote around so please do put out some decent content and if I lilke it, I vote it.

Oh, anyone posting spam I DV btw - by that I mean cut and pastes of how much SPS your're getting or what your daily rewards are. Anything I can basically find out by just looking at chain data if I were interested, which I'm not. If there's some analysis in there/ decent commentary I don't classify it as spam BTW.

So that's me, see you around! Feel free to follow my other accounts if yer interested in other stuff besides gaming.

Thanks,

Thankfully I'm fully alert to scammers, they have become more common recently, I guess it's an unfortunate consequence of a platform growing in popularity.

Excellent strategies, you have achieved some great results in Hive and on Splinterlands, your perseverance and dedication have rightly been rewarded.
I hope to reach 1 million SPT as well but I am still at 65% of my goal.
Now with the new 1up community I will have to set a goal for oneup tokens as well.

You must be doing pretty well with 650K staked, decent curation returns if you can get your 10 votes a day in!

I'm not even sure what my ONEUP target is, I'm just taking it 10K at a time!

I'll have to have a look at the 'print rate' to determine a realistic target!

Wow! I remember people would always say there's no money in blogging, but clearly you're proof of the next generation style of blogging (investor blogger(?)). I only got into hive recently but I do enjoy writing here especially about splinterlands content. I felt that what I wrote on facebook didn't really reach the people I intended my work for. Your intro post is inspiring and gives a glimpse of the possibilities my account can have one day.
