What are those sudden jumps up - are they just a quirk of the way you've organised the data or are they the release days for the equity investors?

Usualy those happen when there is volatility, like the price of hive went up, and there is a lot arbitrage happening
They issue SPS supply once a month so they don't have to do it daily. So that includes private investors and daily SPS airdrop, staking rewards, lP rewards and all other distribution that needs to be done. In future it may be automated but for now it's like manual mint and the distributing it.
