Splinterlands Challenge of Last Week: Dragons.... FULL HOUSE with the Dragon Jumper!

avatar

Last week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Dragon Splinter, and we've defo been here before, but fair play, Dragons are awesome!

And in this battle I showcase just ONE legendary dragon card that REALLY packs a punch in Bronze league at only level one: the Dragon Jumper which does a massive three damage with a fast opportunity attack.

The battle below features the Jumper playing a central attacking role.

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 25
  • Standard Rules (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Dragon Shield Dude

  1. ShieldBearer - Taunt!
  2. The Chicken - blast soak
  3. Amoursmith - repair
  4. Dragon Jumper - the main attack card
  5. Healer - tank heal
  6. Bard - cleanse can come in handy against poison/ stun.

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - BOOM! Straight off the bat the Dragon Jumper takes out the Pixie which is GOOD given all those high magic attacks.
  • Round 2 - Boom again! The jumper takes out the other pixie!
  • Round 3 - Third Boom! This time the Medusa
  • Round 4 - And now the Spineback turtle, there's a pattern here!
  • Round 5 - And the Mystic!
  • Round 6 - Full house, the DJ also takes out the Elemental!

How important was The Dragon Jumper??

Well 6/6 about says it all - down in Bronze many monsters have low health and three damage is sufficient to take out many monsters in one hit - as was the case with the first five, even if the final one needed an assist.

The DJ was crucial - had he not taken out that Pixie, reducing my opponent's first round magic attack to 6 from 8, there's no way the Shield Bearer would have healed to be able to soak up more magic attacks.

I did also needed the decent tank I had with repair and heal - and he held out well, but I had the chicken and the Armoursmith to soak up a couple more attacks.

And SHAME on my opponent for (YAWWWNNN!) going for the all out magic attack and STILL LOSING even though Shieldbearer is weak against magic.

And those magic attack cards cost you - the price you pay is lack of shields, which is a mess against opportunity.

Final Thoughts: Dragon Jumper: Worth Levelling Up?

He's expensive to take to Level 4 - but you do end up with an awesome card for 7 mana - 5 damage, which is easy enough to pimp up to 7 with a couple of buffs, and stun - NB you only get stun at L4 so if you are going to level this one up, it's L4 or don't bother, keep him at L1 IMO!

So maybe having said that, this is a card that is better in Bronze, certainly MUCH better value than playing a maxed version!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

It does sort of stand out, there's not a lot of cards that do 3 damage!

Dragon Jumper looks very cool and worth leveling up, I recently picked up a few cheaper dragons and love having the options! I notice you are not in a guild, would you like to maybe come check out Green Beans ? there is a nice reward boost to all matches plus guild brawl rewards! You could join the brawl we have starting in 30 something hours if interested.

Ah thanks for the offer, but I don't really play anymore TBH, I rent most of my cards out, I just play the odds and end I have left over for the weekly challenge!

I actually got into Team Possible a while back which is P3 (or at least it was at the time) - I just found it so stressful playing all the time and then decided to rent everything after being a member for about two weeks - I don't think they were too impressed with that!

But there you go!

Chill is better, but honestly I don't really have the cards to play! Oh well I DO, but the returns on renting are just too good.

I can not blame you! I am building up and playing to learn a bit more before hitting the rental side full speed and seems with the right cards and skill these tournaments can also pay very good... I won a little DEC in my first placing for a lil win. That and the rewards I need some time and bigger calculator yet I think there is a possibility of doing both and making more. I find renting at season end can pay as much as renting the entire between time then one can dabble in the tournaments if skills are there...
