Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Aim True

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Aim True in which attacks CANNOT miss, sweet!

Aim True general strategy....

The true joy of this ruleset is that you can select slower monsters as they never miss, you just have to be mindful of becoming a cropper due to the fact that your monsters may attack after your opponents.

This would be more of an issue with lower mana battles where the first strike tends to count for more. With higher mana battles, less of a problemo!

AIM TRUE battle exemplar

The battle below shows a line up featuring Waka with Poison and varied attacks...

Mana and rulesets:

  • 34 mana
  • aim true only.

summoner - Waka SpritBlade - for the poison

  • Legionnaire Alva - a handy tank with void shield
  • Scavo Hireling - to repair those shields
  • Silent Shavi - sneak
  • Death Elemental - Snipe
  • Gem Meteor - Scattershot
  • Runi - Opportunity.

The battle...

  • round 1 - I lose my hireling which is annoying but 3 of my monsters poison, which is a more than 50% ratio, so fine!
  • round 2 - Ureas goes down to poison straight away and I take out the Chaos Agent, but I lose my Death Elemental to that opportunity, nasty! I poison the healer at the end of round, crucial!
  • round 3 - I take out the healer but also lose my tank, damn!
  • round 4 - I lose my Shavi but take out the Osheanus, he is useless against everything but magic attacks!
  • round 5 - No losses but I poison Nerrisa, at last!
  • round 7 - it's all over! I win!

Final battle analysis

I relied on the tank and repair to hold the line while my sneak, snipe, scattershot and opportunity attacks ground my opponent's monsters down with poison, making the most of the aim true and giving the Poison the max chance of triggering!

Annoyingly my strategy was undone by opportunity to an extent as I lost my Hireling to opportunity straight off the bat, and then my death elemental.

Poison did the job even though not in the manner I thought it would. It came in very handy later on, with Nerissa losing 4 health in the last two rounds thanks to a late Poison.

Still, a win is a win!

Aim True final thoughts...

Feel free to use lower speed monsters with higher mana battles!
