Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Broken Arrows

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Broken Arrows in which ranged monsters may not be used!

Broken Arrows general strategy....

Offensively you will be relying on

Given that you are going to be getting either magic or melee you have to pick one to focus on, OR go for a mixture.

Personally with this I'd mix it up, as relying solely on magic or melee opens you up to your opponent countering you to defeat, whereas mixing it up won't necessarily put you at a strategic disadvantage offensively.

So anything that buffs either magic or melee is good.

Defensively, a mixture of void, shield, reflect and thorns are all good, and of course the ever reliable void shield is good for both attacks!

Broken Arrows battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle featuring the Life splinter in a comprehensive victory!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 30 MANA
  • Broken Arrows!

Summoner - Raith

  • Shieldbearer - for the TAUNT!
  • Soul Fiend - Sink
  • Time Mage - magic attack one
  • Dax - magic attack two
  • Spirit Hoarder - Magic attack three and triage
  • Brightwing - main magic attack and repair...

The battle...

  • round 1 - I take out the Scrapper, for no loss
  • round 2 - no losses, but my poor SB goes down to one health!
  • round 3 - A handy repair on the SB keeps him alive for a little longer, but I take out the Elven Defender but then my SB goes down!
  • round 4 - I take out Ureas
  • round 5 - I take out the Gladiator, BYE BYE, YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!
  • round 6 - I finish him off, it's all over.

And I am 5/6. Comprehensive!

Final battle analysis

My opponent's sneak attack was wasted on my rear guard and he relied too heavily on that Gladiator getting bloodlust, but he killed NADA, so tough luck, mate!
