Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Going the Distance

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Going the Distance in which only ranged attacks may be used...

Going the Distance general strategy....

• Summoners which give buffs or debuffs to ranged attacks are a good strategy, depending on whether you want to play offensive or defensive!
• Return fire is good to use.
• Snipe and blast also spring to mind.
• No point using anything with the 'ranged in first' ability as its wasted in this ruleset
• You can use double attack cards... so anything with ranged and melee could be useful!
• Cornealus springs to mind as a supreme tank for this particular rule set.

Going the Distance carnage battle exemplar

The battle below shows the Power of Yodin with this ruleset!

Mana and rulesets:

• Mana 26
• Ruleset: going the distance, ranged in first and heavy hitters.

Summoner: Yodin - for the plus one ranged and BLAST!

• Cornealus - high damage and heal, massive health, and return fire. What a great tank for this ruleset!
• Archer - excellent damage for the mana
• Djin Apprentice (I think?) - good damage for the mana
• Lava Spider - snipe, good for blast!
• Halving Alchemist - still one of my fave low mana ranged cards!

The battle...

• Attack one - I take out my opponent's (rather weak) tank
• Cornealus gets reduced to 1 health point, but between return fire and thorns, so does my opponent's second card!
• Attack two - I take out my opponent's second card
• Attack three - my snipe attack takes out my opponent's final two cards!

That's it: all over in one round!

Final battle analysis

My opponent chose an awesome second card but ultimately he couldn't stand up to the awesome combination of cornealus and Yodin... return fire and blast, what a combination!
