Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Reverse Speed

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Reverse Speed in which the speed of monsters is inverted, so speed 1 is the fastest!

This is certainly one of my favourite rulesets as it allows you to play some very different monsters!

Reverse Speed general strategy....

If it's reverse speed only, it's the same as standard rules except you have to invert the speed!

I have found that protecting against magic can be useful as these attacks don't miss, so personally I like Raith for this with his Void Shield for all ability, and plenty of repair.

Also LIFE I find has plenty slow monsters, as with the battle below...

Reverse Speed battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle featuring Raith against Valnamor - so a nice win for LIFE over a superior summoner!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 47 mana!
  • slow, cripple, and only commons!

Summoner - Raith for the VOID SHIELD!

  • Shieldbearer - an awesome taunting tank
  • Prismatic Energy - a nice high mana second card.
  • Time Medlar - a reasonable high damage card and return fire to go with the amplify
  • Healer - for the heal.
  • Sandworm - an awesome sneak attack
  • Lone Boatman - snipe and repair!

The battle...

  • round 1 - we trade blows for no loss
  • round 2 - I lost my SB, damn, but he soaked up a lot of damage!
  • round 3 - I take out the Demon Shark and the Ghost at the back (thanks to reflect)
  • round 4 - I take out the Mershalli Guardian and Venari Wavesmith (reflect)
  • round 5 - it's all over, I take out my opponent's final two cards!

VICTORY!

Final battle analysis

My opponent made a clangor - a plus one speed summoner is a no no in Slow!

Annoyingly my sneak attack was partially neutralised thanks to repair, but the reason by opponent lost was due to his playing too much magic, which I'd countered by playing reflect and amplify! My opponent lost TWO cards because of that!

By having three attacks on the go - front, sneak and snipe, that helped as my opponent's repair couldn't keep up!

I could have maybe maxed out my summoner's abilities more by playing more thorns and reflect, but I just love that Shieldbearer as a tank, he just works!

And I did play reflect on the second card!

Reverse Speed final thoughts...

I love this ruleset, Speed is the MOST crucial of variables in victory and so it's nice to be able to play those low speed cards that are normally ruled out.

MORE OF THIS SORT OF THING I SAY!!!

Good job mate, an interesting mix of wild collections in play there on both sides.

I think Void Armor really made a difference in this game because your enemy mainly used magic monsters.
And as you said, Valnamor is a "NO" in this game because +1 Speed will only bring a disadvantage for the team.
I'm not sure if your enemy is a bot or not :D
