Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Cruel Sethropod...

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Cruel Sethropod from the Water Splinter.

In all honesty this was a card I'd sold A LOT of having ended up with a lot from purchasing more than 2000 Chaos packs over the last several months, so I actually had to rent one!

And I actually discovered I've got a bit of a soft spot for this card!

This proved to be a useful low mana tank ('tank') which held its own even in some higher mana battles...

The battle below features a Level 1 Sethropod acting as a useful tank!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 27
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Kayla Friendful

  1. Cruel Sethropod - the feature card
  2. Venari Wavesmith - protect to enhance shields
  3. Scavo Firebolt - to repair shields!
  4. Ruler of the Seas - with blast and my main damage card.
  5. Healer one.
  6. The crustacean - healer 2!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action [click here](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_c1a7cefcdd67bc47857ffcec70579a50&ref=revisesociology!

  • Round 1 - We exchange blows, no losses, I defo made the right move emphasising shields!
  • Round 2 - Repair and heal work well on the Seth and I take out my opponent's front two cards, no losses for me!
  • Round 3 - the Ruler of Sea's Blast decimates the next two cards and the Seth takes out a third..
  • Round 4 - it's all over!

How important was The Sethropod?

As a tank against a no magic attack and boosted with Protect, repair and double heal at two different points in the round, it held up very well, but it did need all that support.

And obviously the Ruler of the Seas was the main main for taking my opponents' monsters out.

But overall the Seth did his bit and he held up well against an attack that emphasised damage.

And maybe that was my opponent's mistake - because attack comes at the cost of low health with fire and that meant he was VERY weak against blast and even my one damage attacks.

However, maybe a meatier tank up front for 6-7 mana would have done the job even more effectively?

But then again, this strategy did work (and in other battles too, with the Seth as a tank) and a win is a win is a win!

Final Thoughts: Cruel Sethropod - worth buying?

Having sold ALL of mine thinking 'I can do better' you know I'm actually going to buy enough golds to max this card out.

It was useful in so many battles, at least down in Bronze, allowing me to play higher mana cards in the back rows.

And I imagine once you level it up, it could be handy i a slow rule set!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Anyone using my referral link will receive a free rare card!

They literally have attempeted my murder and are trying to kill me with V2K and RNM. Five years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism ..... https://ecency.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

I don't use that one much, but it's low mana tank if I really need it. Not one I'm using much, but I just levelled up my gold one after seeing this :)

It's fair to say that you can never be sure what's going to be more useful in the future, with the rules changing with time!
