Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Djinn Inferni

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase Djinn Inferni from the Fire Splinter.

While High in Mana cost the Inferni packs a heavy punch with its three magic damage, especially against high health monsters with its giant killer ability, and at Level One it also has reasonable health and speed!

The battle below features a Level 1 Djinn Inferni playing a major, damage dealing role in a crushing victory!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Plaedo

  1. Lord Aranthus - my ever reliable lowish mana tank!
  2. Scorch fiend - 0 mana opportunity sink
  3. The Chicken - 0 mana snipe and opportunity sink
  4. Lord of Fire - one of my favourite cards with strengthen, so useful in Bronze league!
  5. Djinn Inferni - the feature and main damage dealer card.
  6. Goblin Fire Mage - supplemental damage and sneak soak to protect the inferni.

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - Boom! 4 points of combined magic damage takes the Squid down, I lose my chicken to opportunity, but that's why she's there!
  • Round 2 - I take out the Albatross, but lose mu Scorch Fiend, again to opportunity.
  • Round 3 - Boom! The Inferni takes down the Merdaali Guardian then the Firemage takes out the Firebolt.
  • Round 4 - It's all over - the DeepLurker falls to my combined attacks!

How important was The Djinn Inferni?

Even without any damage buffs from the Summoner (I didn't really NEED Plaedo) he still played a major role in dealing out most of the damage, in every round.

Also crucial were the two zero mana opportunity soaks which were very effective in countering my opponent's main damage attack from DeepLurker.

I was also helped by a bit of luck - my opponent playing two cards with only one health, which the FireMage luckily took down!

Final Thoughts: Djinn Inferni - worth buying?

Based on this battle I'd say yes, and he would have been even more useful in higher mana battles where people tend to play higher health cards in which the Giant Killer ability really comes into its own.

And at max level, he picks up stun, which with magic is useful given its standard no-miss and with FIVE massive damage points, for me this is a buy!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

It does help you keep on top of what cards are out there and it also makes for a relatively easy post with a nice upvote from the SL account!

Good strategy with lord arantus halfing all damage from meele, range and magic attack and double zero mana cost monster to distract deeplurker.

I can't get back to the times so I play very little; I have a few cards and for now I'm renting them, rather than keeping them still.

The challenges of Splinterland are fascinating I hope I can carve out some time to participate in some😉
