Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Dragons!

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Dragon Splinter, and I must say I prefer these more general Splinter based challenges, there is so much more latitude!

The battle below features a nice mid mana battle featuring the new dragon summoner, Quix along with some classic Dragon monsters!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 25
  • Standard Rules (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Quix - Nice debuffs!

  1. Shield thing - always useful to have shield in a tank!
  2. Manticore - A solid reach card
  3. Goblin tendieee - healer...
  4. New archer thing - low mana 1 damage card
  5. Naga Assassin - useful speed for defence against sneak, also low mana
  6. Chicken - sneak soak.

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action [click here](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_73b41b483bfed5d9c9efa37ae1c8f83e&ref=revisesociology!

  • Round 1 - we trade blows no losses, it's obviously working in my favour given that we've both got shields up front, but I have heal and my opponent doesn't
  • Round 2 - The Goblin takes out my opponent's tank, this is best common chaos card, IMO and proves itself here!
  • Round 3 - My Guardian is holding up well, that's shield for you! I take out the Harpy.
  • Round 4 - I take out the Time Mage (>?_) then the TruthSpeaker, then the herbalist in rapid succession.
  • Round 5 - It's all over, just the final archer thing to go!

How important were the Dragon cards?

Very useful - Quix nullified my opponent's plus one to ranged meaning my shielded Tank was then solid.

The Gloridax Guardian in first place held strong with shield and the Manticore was a crucial 2 damage in back up.

However, the real star of the show I think was the goblin from the earth splinter - healing and doing 2 magic damage.

Final Thoughts: The Dragon Splinter, worth the money>?

Dragon cards, especially the summoners, are on the pricey side, but after neutrals they are the easiest way of adding breadth to your deck - by offering you dozens of new cards to combine with other splinters, and if you can afford some of the legendary dragons, they really are among the best cards out there!

And in terms of being fun to play, you can't beat the dragons!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Nice. I managed to pull 2x Quix from my packs.

When you manage to pull Quix out against Sloan it works wonders at this level for sure!

Happy battling!

i wanted to invest in the game a bit and in addition to buy SPS to stake i also ended up buying a few packs and playing a few rounds. When i look at your lineup and mention of the goblin dude, i don't understand how you can have that Earth card mixed in... unless that is what the Dragon summoner allows for? Enlighten me please.

Dragon summoners allow you to play Dragons combined with any other splinter that's available in that round!

In this case I chose Dragon plus Earth.

It's very handy to say the least!

Indeed. Thanks for the info.

There is a lot of detail in this game which is one of the reasons i believe it will continue to be a success. Players love all the intricacies and possibilities to tweak things.
